AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER FOR AND
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO PURCHASE
1.68 ACRES, MORE OR T , BEING ANIRREGULAR TRACT
OF LAND OUT OF EDGEROOD PARK ADDITION, BOUNDED BY
THE G. T. NELSON TRACT, VIRGINIA PLACE, ALEXANDER,
STREET AND FANNIN SCHOOL TRACT' CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS,
FROM H. G. MARSTON AND M. W. MARSTON OF NUECES COUNTY,
TEAS, FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF $750 PLUS TITLE EX-
PENSES INCIDENTAL THERETO;-AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE TO NECESSARY CONTRACTS
AND INSTRUMENTS TO COMPLETE THE PURCHASE OF SAME; PRO- -
VIDIAG THAT SAID CONSIDERATION BE PAID FROM N0. 295
IHPROV.EM= BONDS 1948 CONSTRUCTION FUND (PARK IM-
PROVEMENTS); AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ME CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed for and on behalf of the City to acquire a tract of land out
of Edgewood Park Addition from H. G. Marston and M. W. Marston for
Park Purposes and described as follows:
BEGINNING At a point at the intersection of the
West boundary of Edgewood Park Addition and also
the East boundary of Virginia Place with the
South line of Alexander Street which point is
the Point of Curvature of a curve to the right
whose Delta angle is 34 degrees and 41 minutes
and 48 seconds and whose radius is 327.73 feet
and whose length is 198.46 feets said point be-
ing the Northwest corner of this tract.
THENCE With the South line of Alexander
Street along said curve to the right in an Easterly
direction a distance of 198.46 feet to the POINT
OF TANGENCY.
THENCE Continuing with the South line of
Alexander Street from the POINT OF TANGENCY South
26 degrees and 56 minutes and 12 seconds East 106.30
feet to the Point of Curvature of a curve to the
left whose Delta angle is 34 degrees. 41 minutes, and
48 seconds and whose radius is 719.29 feet and whose
length is 435.58 feet.
THENCE Continuing with the South line of
Alexander Street along said curve to the left in
an Easterly direction a distance of 342.24 feet for
the Northeast corner of'this tract.
THENCE With the East line of this tract
South 28 degrees and 20 minutes West a distance
of 6.05 feet for the Southeast corner of this
tract and also the Northeast corner of the Fannin
School Tract.
THENCE With the South line of this tract
and also the North line of the Fannin School Tract
North 61 degrees and 40 minutes West 590.32 feet
for the Southwest corner of this tract and also the
Northwest corner of the Fannin School Tract.

THENCE With the West line of this tract
and also the East line of the G. T. Nelson Tract
North 28 degrees and 20 minutes East at 67.116 feet
pass the Northeast corner of the G. T. Nelson
Tract and also the Southeast corner of Virginia
Place in all a distance of 2116.67 feet to a point
on the South line of Alexander Street the PLACE OF
BEGINNING, containing 1,68 acres more or less.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to acquire said land and to execute the necessary instru-
ments incident to said acquisition of the parcel of land described
in Section 1 hereof and from the owners thereof.
SECTION 3. ?hat the purchase price of $750 plus title
expenses incurred in the purchase of said land is to be paid from
No. 295 Improvement Bonds 19148 Construction Fund (Park Improvements).
SECTION 14. That the necessity for providing more adequate
park and recreational facilities and sites therefor to the benefit
and in the general welfare of the citizens of the City of Corpus
Christi creates a necessity and a public emergency requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordi-
nance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the`
City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such public emergency
and imperative public necessity to exist, requesting that said Charter
rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council,

I certify to the City Council that the money required
for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of Fund Ho295 improvement Bonds 1950 Construction
Fund (Park Improvements) from which it is proposed to be drawn,
and such money is not appropriated for any other purpose.
