A RESOLUTION
W THOTMING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO NEGOTIATE WL TH
AND URGE THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF
CGHPGS CHRIST OR DEVELOP-
MENT OF ANY OTHER HOUSING PROJECTS OTHER THAN
A WO HUNDRED UNIT NEGRO HOUSING PROJECT ALREADY
PLANNED UNTIL, THE PUBLIC WILL IS EERFSSED RE-
GARDING THE FUTURE POLICY% OF THE CITY IN RELA-
TION TO PUBLIC HOUSING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, The question of public housing has been present-
ed to the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, requesting
g review of the plans and future development of public housing
in the City of Corpus Christi, and
WHEREAS, After public hearing thereon, recommendation
that steps be taken to obtain an expression of public will re-
gaxdino public housing in the City of Corpus Christi before any
future projects be planned or developed other than a two hundred
unit Negro Housing Project already planned has been considered
and it being deemed proper to adopt said recommendations
HOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION I. That the City Manager of the City of
Corpus Christi be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to
negotiate with and urge the Housing Authority of the City of
Corpus Christi to discontinue plans or development of any other
housing projects other than a two hundred unit Negro Housing Pro-
ject already planned until the Public Will is expressed regard-
ing the future policy of the City in relation to public housirg.
SECTION II. The Necessity of promptly obtains
the expression of public will creates a public emergency and an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of-the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution
be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the
Wor, declaring such emergency and necessity to exist, having
requested thesuspension of the said Charter rule and that this
ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect andbe in full force and effect from and after its
passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED. .-

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at.three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
role or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
