HomeMy WebLinkAbout02945 ORD - 12/12/1950AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($900) FROM NO. 296_ IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1950 CONSTRUCTION FOND (STREET Ii WVEMENTS) FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF STREET IMPROVEMENTS AT THE INTERSECTION OF OCEMT-DMV9 AND MO AVENUE IN THE CITY; CITY MANAGER FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY TO E%ECUTE A CONTRACT WITH C. L. CASTOR, CONTRACTOR, FOR SUCH -inWE- MENTST -MUIRLAiINO AN EMER M. WHEREAS. Certain improvements have been determined to be desirable as a part of the traffic plan, and it is necessary to make appropriation out of the proper fund for the payment thereof and to enter into a contract for the construction of said improvements; and WHEREAS, There are sufficient funds unappropriated in Now 296 Improvement Bonds 2,950 Construction Fund (Street Im- provemests) to pap for the construction of such improvements: NOW. THE ORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Street Improvements) Nine Hundred Dollars ($900) to par for certain street improvements at the intersection of Ocean Drive and Morgan Avenue in the City Of Corpus Christi according to the terms d the Contract described in Section 2 hereof. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi a contract for the agreed contract price for the construction of certain street improvements as described in such contract with C. L. Castor. Contractors in accordance with the plans. specifications, and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are incorporated and made a part hereof by reference. SECTION 3. The necessity of widening such street at said intersection and making certain improvements as a part of the street traffic control system to provide a safer traffic pattern for the citizens of the City of Cropus Christie Texas, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity re- quiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction and that ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having de- clared such emergency and necessity to exist$ having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage.
