DRAINAGE FOR E BOULEVARD, SOUTHMOREIAND ADDITION AND AR Li D 3ION AS MORE FULLY DESCRIBED IN THE PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT,DOCUMENT, MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE; APPROPRLATING OUT OF-NO. 296 IM- PROVEMENT BONDS 9 U C NSTRUCTIO ND TORM bMSH RANTS THE bum OF 7 a 5 4s WHICH SUM INCLUDES $7%9,652.10 CONTRACT CON - STRUCTION COSTS AND THE SUM OF $15,000.00 ENGINEERING AND CONTINGENCY COSTS; AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Certain improvements have been determined to be necessary; and, WHEREAS, There are sufficient funds available and un- appropriated in No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Storm Sewer Improvements) to cover the cost of said improvements; and, WHEREAS, Bids have been reoeived, considered, and an award made for the lowest and moat advantageous bid to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and it is now necessary to authorize the execution of a oontract and to make such appropriation; NON, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEAS; SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to exeoute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi a contract with Heldenfels Brothers for the construction of storm sewer improvements on Shely and Logan Streets and Baldwin Boulevard to provide storm drainage for Baldwin Boulevard, Southmoreland Addition and Arcadia Subdivision by the construction of concrete box storm sewer, installation of precast pipe sewer, and construction of manholes, inlets, and appurtenant structures as set out in plans and specifications, which contract has been awarded in accordance with plans, specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference, and according to the bid of said Heldenfels Brothers opened on the 19th day of December, 1950, the said bid of Heldenfels Brothers being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of , Corpus Christi, Texan. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Storm Sewer Improvements) the sum of $791,652.10, out of which sum there is to be paid, according to the terms of the contract described in Section 1 hereof, the sum of $779,652.10 to cover contract construction costs and the balance of $15,000.00 to cover the amount of engineering and contingency costs of said project. SECTION 3. The necessity for the construction of muohly ' needed storm sewers to serve Baldwin Boulevard, Southmoreland Addition and Araoaia Subdivision to provide more adequate drainage for such area creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of that certain Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and nacessity exist, requesting that such Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date it is introduced and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCCRD- IffGLY SO ORDAINED. / PASSED AND APPROVED, This the ;L day of December, A.
