AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER FOR
AND ON BERATE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO "
PURCHASE 0.279 ACRES OF LAND OUT OF LOTS 5 AND 6,
BLOCK 1, ARCADIA SUBDIVISION, AN ADDITION AND WIPE,
CITI OF C
LOS HOSTUTIER' FOR BALIINRI T'_fAY
FOR THE SDM OF FIVE � ($S,GGD) AND
OTRER GOOD, §M CONSIDERATION, ALL AS MORE
PARTICULARSCRIBED IN SUCH DEED TO THE CITY,
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING M-MTY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
Y THE NECESSARY CONTRACTS AND INSTRUMENTS TO COMPLETE
TEE PURCHASE OF SAID LAND; PROVIDING THAT THE PAY-
MENT OF $5,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAME SHALL BE MATYG
FROM NO. 296 IMPROVEMENT BONDS '950 CONSTRUCTION FUND
(STREET INFROVEMENTS); AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized .>
and directed, for and on behalf of the City, to purchase 0.279 acres
of land from Ray Hostutler and wife, Lois Hostutler, far Baldwin -
Street right -of -way, such land being described as follows:
An irregular shaped tract of land out of lots
5 and 6, Block 1 of the Arcadia Addition to
the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, as shown by
- map or plat of record in Volume 7, Page 10 of
the Map Records of Nueces County, Texas, said
tract of land being more particularly described
by metes and bounds as follows:
• Beginning at a point, the intersection of the
southeasterly extension of the southwest boun-
dary line of Baldwin Boulevard and the north- '
west boundary line of said Lot 6, Block 1,
Arcadia Subdivision for the most westerly corner
of this tract, said point bears N 280 201 E-
63.43 feet from the most northerly corner of
Lot 7, Block 1 of the Arcadia Subdivision;
Thence N 280 20t E with the northwest boundary
line of said Lot 6, Block 1, Arcadia Subdivision
a distance of 6.57 feet to a point, being the
point of curve of a circular curve to the right
having a radius of 50 feet and a central angle
of 1180 44+; -
Thence with said curve a distance of 103.61 feet
to a point, being the point of tangent to said
curve and the present southwest boundary line of
18th Street; '
Thence S 320 56, E with the present southwest
boundary line of 18th Street a distance of 231.77
feet to a point, being the point of curve of a
circular curve to the right having a radius of
93.44 feet and a central angle of 450 58t;
Thence along said curve and the west boun-
dary line of South Staples Street a distance
of 69.98 feet to a point on said curve for
the most southerly corner of this tract;
Thence N 320 56, W parallel to and 25 feet
southwest of the present southwest boundary
line of 18th Street a distance of 236.26
feet to its intersection with the south-
easterly extension of the southwest boundary
line of Baldwin Boulevard for a corner of
this tract;
Thence N 610 43' W along the southeasterly
extension of the southwest boundary line of
Baldwin Boulevard a distance of 111.63 feet
to the place of beginning. Containing 0.279
acres of land.
for the sum of Five Thousand ($5,000) Dollars and other good and
valuable consideration, to -grits that for paving placed on the above
described strip of land or abutting lots 5 and 61 Block 10 Arcadia
Subdivision, an addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, with-
in five (5) years from the date of the deed conveying said property ,
to the City, the same shall be without cost to the Grantors there- ,
in, Ray Hostutler and wife, Lois Hostutler.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized
and directed to execute the necessary contracts for the purchase
of said land described in Section 1 hereof and to do all things
incident or requisite to obtaining the title and possession of
said land.
SECTION 3. That the sum of Five Thousand Dollars to be
paid as consideration for said property be paid from No. 296 Im-
provement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Street Improvements).
SECTION 4. That the necessity for acquiring land needed
for the Baldwin Boulevard storm sewer system and the future widen-
ing and opening of Baldwin Boulevard creates a public emergency and
an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally
on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and
the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative
necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be sus-
pended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its
introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY So ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution aball be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at.three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.

for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of No..296 Improvement Bonds 1950
Construction Fund (Street.Improvements)
Fund from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not
appropriated for any other purpose.
