AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
OF THE CITY FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
OF CCRPUS CHRISTI TO EXECUTE A RELEASE OF
SPECIAL ASSESSMENT COVERED BY CEM=
. 10, 1944, AGAINST THE
PROPERTY FRONTING 25 FEET ON THE EAST SIDE
OF NINETEENTH STREET, BEING ALL OF LOT 12,
BLOCK- 1,tSLTION TO THE CITY OF
CORPUS CF ff, _ fJ UECES COUNTY, TEXAS AND THE
REAL AND TRUE OWNER THERECF, AGUSTIN LOPEZ,
FOR AND IN CONSIDERATION OF TRE- PRTR=AND
INTEREST THEREON, A COPY OF WHICH RELEASE IS
ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND
DECLARING AN E'ERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager, for and on behalf of
the City of Corpus Christi to execute a release of Special Assess-
ment covered by Certificate No. 9 dated October 10, 1944, against
the property fronting 25 feet on the East side of Nineteenth Street,
being all of Lot 12, Block 1, Jasmin Addition to the City of Corpus
Christi, Nueces County, Texas, and the real and true owner thereof,
Agustin Lopez, for and in consideration of the principal and inter-
est thereon, a coro of which release is attached hereto and made
a part hereof, reading as follows:

WHEREAS, By virtue of an Ordinance of the City Council of
the City of Corpus Christi# Texas, duly enacted on the 0th day of June,
1944# as amended on the loth day of October, 1944, there was levied an
assessment in the sum of one hundred thirty six and $91100 Dollars ($136,$9)
against the property situated in said City fronting 25 feet on the East
aide of Nineteenth Street and described as follows:
All of Lot 12, Block 12 Jasmin Addition to the
City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas,
and against the real and true owner thereof, named as follows-
AGUSTIN LOM
and
WHEREAS# Said special assessment was evidenced by such
Assessment Certificate No, 9, issued by the City, of Corpus Christi,
Texas on the 10th dap of October,1944; and
WHEREAS, The said Assessment Certificate together with all
interest thereon, has been fully paid off and 'satisfied and at the time
Of its payment the City of Corpus Christi was the owner and holder of
said certificate and of all liens securing its payment;
HOW, THEREFORE, The City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a munici-
pal corporation, far and in consideration of the payment of said Special
Assessment, does hereby RELEASE said property from all liens securing
the payment of said assessment and the owner of said property from all
personal liability ciliated by the issuance of said certificate and tits
other proceedings of said City above referred to, and declare said
Special Assessment fully SATISFIED AND DISCH6RGED,
IN WITNESS WBRECF, This instrument is executed by the
proper City officials of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and the
corporate seal affixed this the dap of January, A.D. 1951.

foregoing instrument and ac]moeledged to me that he executed the awe
for the purposes and consideration therein expressed, in the capacity
therein stated, and as the act and deed of said City.

SECTION 2. The necessity for clearing the title to '
the aforesaid land creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and
the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist,
having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this
ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from aid after its
passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY 30 ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set Forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at -three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
