APPROPRIATING $16,262.50 FROM NO. 296 IMPROVEMENT
BONDS 1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND (FIRE STATION) TO
PURCHASE A TRIM COMBINATION PUMPER FROM MACK
INTERNATIONAL MOTOR TRUCK CORPORATION FOR THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH TABULATION OF BIDS
ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, AUTHOR -
IZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MIN AGER TO EXECUTE FOR
AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY ALL NECESSARY INSTRUMENTS
REQUISITE TO SUCH PURCHASE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the purchase of certain equipment for the use of
the fire department of the City has been deemed necessary; and
VZHEREAS, there is available and unappropriated sufficient
funds in No. 296 Improvements Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Fire Sta-
tion) set aside for the purcbaseof equipment and so forth from which
to make appropriation to cover the cost of such equipment; and
` WHEREAS, bids having been submitted, considered and an
award made for the lowest and most advantageous bid to the City of
Corpus Christi, it is now necessary to make proper authorization for
such purpose:
NOW THEREFOHE, BE IT OBTAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of No.
296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Fire Station) the am
of $16,262,50 to mver the cost of purchase of a triple combination
pumper from Mack International Motor Truck Corporation for the use of
the Fire Department according to the bid of said Mack International Motor
Truck Corporation opened on the 2nd day of January, 1951, said bid be-
ing the lowest and most advantageous bid to the City of Corpus Christi,
in accordance with bid tabulations on file in the Office of the City
Secretary of the City of Corpus Christi. ,
SECTION 2. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus .
Christi be and he is hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf
of the City to execute all necessary instruments necessary and requisite
to such purchase.
SECTION 3. The necessity for the immediate purchase of the
aforesaid equipment necessitating the prompt authorization for the ap-
propriation of money with which to make such purchase creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension
of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Coun-
cil, and the Mayor, declaring such emergency and necessity to exist,
having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this
ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT
IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. �I'�

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at.three meetings of the _
City Council, I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass thin ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.

I certify to the City Council that the money required
for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950
Construction Fund (Fire Station)
Fund from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not
appropriated for any other purpose.
