HomeMy WebLinkAbout02974 ORD - 01/23/1951AN ORDINANCE , APPROPRIATING $960 FROM NO. 258 SEAWAYS, AND BREAKWATER CONSTRUCTION FUND FOR THE INSTALLATION OF MOORING BITS ON THE BARGE DOCK AT THE NORTH END OF THE SEAWALL IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BSTI- MADE WHICH IS MADE A PART HEREOF AND ATTACHED HERETO; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, The improvements contemplated will aid in the pro- tection of the Seawall and Breakwater of the City of Corpus Christi from the elements and in times of hurricanes, such improvements be- ing a part of the Seawall and Storm Protection Improvements of the City of Corpus Christi, Taxas: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of No. 258 Seawall and Breakwater construction Fund the am of $960 for the installation of mooring bits on the barge dock at the North End of the Seawall in the City of Corpus Christi in accordance with the attached estimate,which is made a part hereof, to be paid on pur- chase orders to be issued for the installation of this work as ma- terials are received and installations made. SECTION 2. The necessity from time to time to rehabilitate existing improvements on the Seawall and Breakwater and to take pro- tective measures to protect same from the elements as a part of the Seawall and Storm Protection Improvements of the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and an imperative public neces- sity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule providing that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed on the date of its in- troduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, declar- ing such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested that such Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, IT IS AC- CORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. PASSED AND APPROVED, Ts Secre ary APPROVED AS TO 'GAL FORM: i y Atto=ey This the Z301day of January, 19$1: MAYOR The City of Corpus Christi, Texas SPECIFICATIONS FOR PROPOSED MOORING BITS ON THE BARGE DOCKS AT THE NORTH END OF SEAWALL The 22 Mooring bits shall be 24 -inch galvanized bits fastened by means of two 7/8 -inch bolts to concrete blocks 1211 x 31 x 2211 in approximately 35 -foot spacing center to center on the barge docks. Corpus Christi, Texas G%, 1954 TO THE HERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore- going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
