HomeMy WebLinkAbout02978 ORD - 01/23/1951e t - AN ORDINAN CE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 760, KNOWN As THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF TO CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,ADOPTED ' ON THE 27TH DAY CF AUGUST, 1937, AND APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES 565 ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AIM RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AS AMENDED FROM TINE TO TIME THERE- AFTER, AND IN PARTICULAR AS AMINDED BY ORDINANCE N0. 2266, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ON THE 47H DAY OF MAY, 1948, AND APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 16, PAGES 339 ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BY AMENDING THE ZON- ING MAP APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, ON MAY 4, 7948 BY CHANGING THE PRESENT ZONING ON ALL OF TATS 21 AND 22 AND THE NORTH ONE -HALF OF LOTS 1 AND 2, BLOCK 2, REST HAVEN ADDITION TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, FOR R -1, ONE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT USE TO R -2, TWO FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT USE; BY CHANGING THE HTESENT ZONING ON A TRACT OF LAND DESCRIBED AS BE- ING 300 FEET BY 150 FEET OUT OF TRACTS A AND B, BLOCK H, PAISLEY SUBDIVISION OF THE HOFFMAN TRACT, BEING THAT PROPERTY LOCATED AT 3603 AYERS STREET, FOR Rrl, ONE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT USE TO A -2, SECOND APART- MENT HOUSE DISTRICT USE; BY CHANGING THE PRESENT ZON- ING OF LOT 6, BLOCK 6, AUSTIN ADDITION TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, FOR R -1, ONE FAMILY DWELLING DIS- TRICT USE TO R -2, TWO FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT USE; BY CHANGING THE PRESENT ZONING OF LOT 1, BLOCK 9, WINDSOR PARK, AN ADDITION TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, FOR R-1, ONE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT USE TO B-1, NEIGH- BORHOOD BUSINESS DISTRICT USE; KEEPING IN EFFECT ALL OTHER PROVISSIONS OF THE EXISTING ORDINANCES AS AMENDED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, has recommended to the City Council of said City that it is advisable to make the hereinafter set out changes in the present Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi at its regular meeting held on the 5th dap_of December, ordered a Public Hearing to be held on the llth day of January, 1951, at 2:00 o'clock P.M. in the City Council Chamber at the City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, The City Council did on the 11th day of January,1951, hold such hearing, where all interested citizens, property owners, and other parties had the opportunity to be heard on the proposed amendments, and that at such hearing all parties interested and wish- ing to be heard were heard: �9�8 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEAS: SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus Christi passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appearing of record in Volume 9, at pages 565 et seq of the Ordinance and Resolu- tion Records of the City of Corpus Christi, and as amended from time to time thereafter, and in particular as amended by Ordinance No. 2266, passed and approved by the City Council of said City on the 4th day of May, 1948, and appearing of record in Volume 16, pages 339 et seq of said Ordinance and Resolution Records, BE AMENDED, and the same is hereby amended, in those particulars as set forth herein. SECTION 2. That the zoning of that tract of land described as All of Lots 21 and 22, and the North one -half of Lots 1 and 2, Block 2, REST HAVEN ADDITION to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be changed from present zoning for R -1, One Family Dwelling District use to R-2, Two Family Dwelling District use, and the same is here- by rezoned. SECTION 3. That the zoning of that tract of land described as A Tract of land described as being 300 feet by 150 feet out of Tracts A and B. Block H, Paisley Sub- division of the HOFFMAN TRACT, being that property located at 3603 Ayers Street and being the land ly- ing between Norton and Fannin Streets on the South- east side of Ayers Street and abutting 150 feet on Ayers Street, in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be changed from present zoning for R -13 one Family Dwelling District use to A -2, Second Apartment House District use, and the same is here- by rezoned. SECTION 4. That the zoning of that tract of land described as Lot 6, Block 6, AUSTIN ADDITION to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas be changed from present zoning for R -1, One Family Dwelling District use to R-2, Two Family Dwelling District use, and the same is hereby rezoned. -2- SECTION 5. That the zoning of that tract of land describ- ed as ' Lot 1, Block 9, WRWOR PARK, an addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be changed from present zoning for R -1, One Family Dwelling Dis- trict use to B-12 Neighborhood Business District use, and the same is hereby rezoned. SECTION 6, That the official Zoning Map of the City of Corpus,Christi be and the same is hereby amended as herein ordain- ed. SECTION 7. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 8. That the said Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus Christi, approved on the 4th day of May, 1948, as amended from time to time, except as herein changed shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 9. That the fact it is of the greatest public im- portance to put in force immediately the changes in the Zoning Ordinance and Map as hereinabove provided, for the purpose of pro- viding for the orderly and progressive growth of the City of Corpus Christi, creates a public emergency and an imperative public neces- sity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the day it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three sev- eral meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, requesting that said City Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance take effect and be passed finally on the day it is introduced and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS AC- CORDINGLY 30 ORDAINED. -3- PASSED AND APPROVED, This the_,?.L_dap of January A.D• 1951. City of Corpus Christi• Texas acre ery - ••,• +- U • Faen •••,,, 4 �/ Corpus Christi, Texas TO THE MMERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore- going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
