APPROPRIATING $3,010.00 FROM NO. 296 IMPROVEMENTS BONDS
1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND (PUBLIC LIBRARY) TO PAY FOR A
STRIPPED TRUCK CHASIS FOR MOUNTING BOOKMOBILE BODY FOR
LA RETAMA LIBRARY, INCLUDING $10 FOR REINFORCING AND FISH -
PLATING, FROM ACE DISTRIBUTING COMPANY, fob WOOSTER, OHIO
IN ACCORDANCE WITH TABULATION OF BIAS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE
OF THE CITY SECRETARY; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY ALL NECES-
SARY INSTRUMENTS REQUISITE TD SUCH PURCHASE; AND I]ECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
1VHEREAS, the purchase of a boolawbile has been made for
the extension of the Public library, and it is necessary to obtain a
chasis for same; and
WHEREAS, there is available and unappropriated sufficient
funds in No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Public Li-
brary) for such purchase; and
WEREAS, bids having been invi.tsd� submitted, considered
and an award made for the most advantageous bid to the City, it is now
necessary to authorize such purchase;
NOWT THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CBRISTI, TEXAS;
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of No. 296
Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Public Library) the sum of
$3,010 for the purchase of a dodge cab-over-engine, 2 ton standard chassis
including $10 for reinforcing and fishplating from Ace Distributing Com-
paRYs fob Wooster Ohio, to be delivered in march 1951, according to the
bid of said Ace Distributing Company opened on the 23rd day of January,
1951, said bid being the mostadvantageous to the City of Corpus Christi,
and in accordance with bid tabulations on file in the Office of the City
Secretary of the City of Corpus Christi,
SECTION 2. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi
be and he is hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the
City of Corpus Christi to execute all necessary instruments requisite
to the purchase of a chassis for the bookmobile body for the La Retama
Public Library.

SECTION 3. The necessity of authorizing the prompt and proper
use of funds previously voted for the purpose of enlarging our public
library by the immediate purchase of a chasis for a bookmobile to
service the outlying section of the City of Corpus Christi creates
a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordi-
nance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and neces-
sity to exist, and having requested the suspension of said Charter
role and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its in-
troduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY So ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.

for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of No. 296 Improvement Bonds 19$0
Construction Fund (Public Library)
Fund from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not
appropriated for any other purpose.
