WHEREAS, The Commissioners Court of Nueces County in special session on June 30, 1950, has adopted, for experimental use, voting machines as they may be available for Nueces County; and WHEREAS, It is desired to adopt for use in elections for the City of Corpus Christi voting machines as they may be available for the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ITIE CITY OF CARPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: as they may be available SECTION 1. That voting machines are hereby adopted/for use in an election to be held in the City of Corpus Christi on April 31 1951. SECTION 2. That voting machines shall be used for the cast- ing of absentee votes at said election. SECTION 3. The necessity of adopting said voting machines in the aforesaid election, being of great public importance, creates a public emergency and an im:erative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule providing that no ordinance or resolu- tion shall be passed finally on the day it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution dull be read at three several meetings of iae City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested that said Charter rule be sus- pended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS SO ORDAIDED.
