AN ORDINANCE
CLOSING LOBO STREET FROM THE WEST LINE OF JOSEPHINE
STREET TO ITS WESTERN TERMINUS AT SALT LAKE TRACT,
CLOSING JOSEPHINE STREET FROM THE NORTH LINE OF
LAKE STREET TO THE SOUTH LINE OF FRANK STREET CLOS-
ING NUECES STREET FROM THE EAST LINE OF COKEuTREET
TO ITS EASTERN TERMINUS AT A CITY PARK, AND QUIT-
CLAIMING ANY INTEREST THAT THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI MIGHT HAVE IN AND TO SUCH PROPERTY CLOSED
FOR STREET PURPOSES TO THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Housing Authority of the City of Corpus
Christi, a housing authority organized under the Housing Au-
thority Law of the State of Texas, has petitioned the Mayor
and the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, for
an order closing Lobo Street from the west line of Josephine
Street to its western terminus at the Salt Lake Tract, closing
Josephine Street from the north line of Lake Street to the
south line of Frank Street and closing Nieces Street from the
east line of Coke Street to its terminus at a city park; and
WHEREAS, notice of the proposed closing of said por-
tions of said streets has been given by publication in accord
with the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi and by regis-
tered mail to the last known address of all owners abutting on
said streets and within 450 feet thereof, all in accordance
with Section 6, Article II of the Charter of the City of Corpus
Christi and of a hearing to be held thereon on the 3rd day of
April, 1951, at 4:00 o'clock P.M.; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the notice given as above
set forth and under the provisions of Section 6, Article II of
the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a public
hearing was held by the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi at 4;00 o'clock P.M. on the 3rd day of April, 1951, in
the Council Chamber at the City Hall in the City of Corpus
Christi, Nueces County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the public welfare, convenience and necessi- -
ty•will be better served by'the closing of such streets.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
Section 1. That Lobo Street from the west line of
Josephine Street to the western terminus of Lobo Street at the
Salt Lake Tract all in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces
County, Texas, be and the same is hereby closed as a public
street and from public use.
Section 2. That Josephine Street from the north line
of Lake Street to the south line of Frank Street all in the
City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, as originally de-
dicated be and the same is hereby closed as a public street and
from public use.,
Section 3. That Nueces Street from the east line of
Coke Street to its eastern terminus at a city park all in the
City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, as originally de-
dicated be and the same is hereby closed as a public street and
from public use.
Section 4. That the City of Corpus Christi hereby
quitclaims any title or interest it might have in and to those
portions of Lobo Street, Josephine Street and Nueces Street
herein and hereby closed to Housing Authority of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas.
Section K. The fact that public convenience and neces-
sity will be better served by the closing of said streets and
that the immediate closing thereof is necessary to the develop-
ment of said tract creates a public emergency and a public im-
perative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three regular meetings of the City Council; and
the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and impera-
tive necessity exist and having requested that such Charter rule

be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY OR-
DAINED.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 3rd y of April, 1951.

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
Gentlemen:
For the reason set forth in the emergency clause of
the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative
necessity exists for the suspension of the Charter Rule or re-
quirement that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed fi-
nally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance
or Resolution shall be read at three (3) meetings of the City
Council; and I therefore hereby request that you suspend said
Charter Rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally
on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
