CREATING AND RECREATING POSITIONS, CLASSES,
CLASSIFICATIONS AND SALARIES PAYABLE TO THE,
HOLDERS OF SUCH POSITIONS IN THE POLICE
DIVISION OF THE DEPARThMNT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
IN- THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; ABOLIMNG
ALL POSITIONS, CLASSIFICATIONS AND_ SALARIES
OR SALARY RANGES IN CONFLICT HMEKITH EF2

A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN BEER -
GENCY", AND BEING ORDINANCE NO. 2655, :PASSED
AND APFRCVED.BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 6TH
DAY OF DECEeBER,.1949, BY JUQNDING SECTION 1
OF SAID- ORDINAR02 TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADDI-
TIONAL.CLASSIFICATION OF INSPECTOR OF POLICE
TO BECMT, EFFECTIVE FROM AND AFTER THE PASS -
AGE OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND DECLARIDIG AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OFF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI:
Section 1: That Section I of said Ordinance No. 2655
be amended so as to add the follwing classification;
CLASS A
UNIFORMED AND DETECTIVE CLASS - POLICE SERVICE
Number of Classification: E Salary
Positions (Class Title) Per Month
Pain. Pax.
GRADE 5A
O 1 Inspector of lolice 0315.00

Section 2. That this ordinance shall be effective
from and after its passage.
Section 3. That other than as amended herein said
Ordinance Ro. 2655 shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 4. The fact that the population of the City
of Corpus Christi has greatly increased in the past several
months creating the need for greater supervision in the Police
Department creates a public emergency and imperative necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the dAte it is intro-
duced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at

three several meetings of the City Council, and the Yayor Navin;
declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity
exist, and having requested that such Charter be suspended, and
that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction and take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDITTGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen.
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at -three meetings of the
City Council; 1, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.

Civil. Service Commission unanimously voted that the position
of Inspector of Police for the Corpus Christi Police Depart-
ment be created in conformity with the recommendation made
by you and the Chief of Police.
