DESCRIBING THE BOUNDARIES THEREOF; REPM=
ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES THAT
CCNFLICT HEREWITH AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, It is deemed necessary to change the City Wards of the
City of Corpus Christi in order to secure better voting facilities for
the Citizens of Corpus Christi and in order to conform with the general
lays of the State of Texas regarding the holding of elections;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City o£ Corpus Christi, Texas, as its boundaries
now exist, is hereby divided into eight (8) Bards, and the metes and
bounds of said wards shall be as follows, to -wit:

east comer of State Survey Noe 708 as shown on the General Land Office
Map of submerged lands, Nueces Bay and adjoining areas, dated Octo-
ber 15, 1946; THENCE west with the North boundary line of Nueces
County Navigation District Lands to its intersection with the east
line of State Survey No. 939, THENCE North with the East line of State
Survey No. 939, crossing State Survey No. 688 with the Northward ex-
tension of State Survey No. 939ts east line to the South line of State

City Limit's line established in August 1883; THENCE in an easterly
direction with the said original south City Limit's line to its inter-

SECTION 2. That all ordinances and part of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed and that Ordinance No, 2996,
passed and approved by the City Council on the 20th day of February,
39$1, is hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 3. That the fact that a new division of wards
is required for the City in order to insure better voting facilities
in future elections creates a public emergency and an imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi-
nance or resolution shall be passed finally on'the date it is intro-
duced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared
such public emergency and imperativepublic necessity exist, and hav-
ing requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordi-
nance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take ef-
fect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT
IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. `

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinanas or
resolution shall be passed finally on the data it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is `
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
