FOR AND ON TEHAT OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI TO ACQUIRE 80 ACRES-OUT OF THE
WOODRUFF TRACT LOCATED BETWEEN SHELL, ROAD AND
HIGHWAY NO. 9 APPROYIMATELY SEVEN MII FS FROM.
TBE PRESENT CITY LIMITS TO BE USED FOR PARE
AND OTHER MUNICIPAL PURPOSES, WHICH LAND IS
MORE FULLY DESCRIBED HEREIN, SAID IARD TO BE
PURCHASED FROM H. E. WOODRUFF, TRUSTEE, FOR
THE CONSIDERATION OF SIXTY-FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS
($64,000), WHICH SUM IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED .

SIDERATION FOR SUCH CONVEYANCE, AUTHORIZING
AND DIRECTING THE CITY MMAGER TO DO ALL THINGS
NECESSARY TO COMPLETE SAID PURCHASE, AND DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED HY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TE%ASS
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby
authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City to acquire
60 acres out of the Woodruff Tract located between Shell Road and
Highway No. 9 apprordmately seven miles from the present city limits
to be used for park and other municipal purposes from H. E. Woodruff,
Trustee, for the consideration of Sixty-Four Thousand ($64,000), said
land being more particularly described by metes and bounds in the
description attached hereto and made a part hereof, x=d1q&x=x2o22u=1
the same to be conveyed to the City bjr Warranty Deed in the form subject
to approval of the City Legal Department.

SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated from
No. 131 Trust Fund the am of Sixv roan Thousand Dollars ($64,000)
to cover the cost of the conveyance of said Sand described in Section 1
hereof.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager be and he is hereby
anthorized and directed to do all things incident to and requisite to ob»
taining the title and possession of said lands.
SECTION 4. That the necessity of utilizing a portion of
the funds obtained from the sale of Guth Parks and the arFOesaid purchase
having been deemed desireable, the necessity of making appropriation there.
for immediately creates a public emergency and an imperative public neces-
sity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayors declaring such emergency and necessity
to exists having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that
this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take
effect and be in fn'L3 force and effect from and after the date of its

Acre tract. Said point also being in the east line of Rolling Acres

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at -three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
