AREA PERFOBNED BY C. L. CASTOR, CONTRACTOR, UNDER
HIS CONTRACT DATED DECEMMER 27, 1950, As AUTEDRIZ-
ED BY ORDINANCE N0. 2949, WITH THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEAS; AurH)RIZ7NG THE PAYMENT $4,601.16,
THE _TOTAL- OF THE CONTRACT PRICE, UPON TEE FINAL
ESTIMATE DATED MAY 21, 7951, A COPY OF WHICH IS AT-
TACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY
BE IT ORDAIM BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the work of construction of Tjodale
Community Center sidewalks and parking area performed by C. L.
Castor, Contractor, under his contract with the city dated December
279 1950s as authorized by Ordinance No. 2949, having been perform-
ed and completed in accordance with the terms and provisions of the
contract, plans and specifications, and the Director of Public Works
having inspected the same and certi:ied to the completion of said
work in accordance with said plans and specifications, and having
recommended the acceptance and payment of same in accordance With
such certificate, which recommendation is concurred in by the Park
Superintendent, who has inspected the work, the work aforesaid is
hereby found to have been completed in accordance with the plans
and specifications and said contract, and is here and now accepted'
and received by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas.
SECTION 2. That final payment due under said contract
as set out in the final estimate dated May 212 1950, prepared by
the Director of Public Works in the am of $4,601.76, being the total
contract price, be paid out of No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Gon-
struction Fund (Park Improvements) in accordance with the appropria-
tion ordinance No. 2949, and a copy of such final estimate being
attached hereto and made a part hereof.

SECTION 3e That the necessity for the completion of
said project by such acceptance and final payment prompt3y and '
the public importance of such project being in furtherance of
the use of park and recreation facilities to the benefit of the
public health and safety and general aelfares creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the sus-
pension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency
and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said
Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after the date of its passages IT IS ACCORDS =
PASSED AND APPROVED, This the7-day of aye 1951.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
