CLOSING THE HEARINGS AND ADOPTING
AND APPROVING THE MAP AND ESTABLISH—
LNG BUILDING LINES FOR CHAPARRAL
STREET EXTENDING FROM PARK AVENUE ON
THE SOUTH TO COOPER'S ALLEY ON THE NORTH,
SAID MAP BEING ATTACHED HERETO AND MARK-
ED "EXHIBIT A "; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WBEREAS, Notice of Hearing on the matter of fixing a build-
ing line on Chaparral Street extending from park Avenue on the South
to Cooperts Alley on the North, all in the City of Corpus Christi has
been given by publication and by registered mail to the last ]mown ad-
dresses of all owners abutting said street and within fourhundred fifty
feet (4501) thereof, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said Notice, a Public Hearing was held
by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, in accordance
with the provisions of Section 6, Article II of the City Charter and in
accordance with the provisions of Article 3.105 (a) of the Revised Civil
Statutes of Texas, said hearing being held on the 22nd day of }day, A.D.
1951. .
WHEREAS, It has been determined by the City Council after
after such Public Hearing that the establishing of a uniform building
line along Chaparral Street is necessary and of vital importgnce to the
planning of the traffic pattern in the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS,,Theanticipation of the future widening of said street
necessitates the i=ediate extablishment of a building line on Chaparral
Street from Park Avenue on the South to Cooper's Alley on the North
that will prevent expensive building encroachments upon territory that
that is to be included in the street when widened, which building or
buildings would increase the burden of expense upon the City in secur-
ing future right- of-way for the street, and

NOW3 THEREFORE, HE IT ORDAINED RY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY CORPUS CHRISTI:
SECTION 1. That the building lines for Chaparral Street from
Park Avenue on the South to Cooper's Alley on the North, as shown on the
map attached hereto as ^Exhibit All be, and they are hereby approved and
adopted as the building lines on said street at the locationsshown on
said Map and after the date of this ordinance, building encroaching up-
on said lines is forbidden.
SECTION 2. That the fact that the prevention of further
erection of buildings encroaching upon the territory to be included
in the thoroughfare when widened is necessary to save the City from
additional burden of expense in securing the rightsrof"'way, create a
Public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the sus-
pension of the Charter rule or requirement that no Ordinance or Reso.
lution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and
that said Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meet-
. ings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declaredthat such em-
ergency and public imperative necessity exist, and requested that said
Charter rule be suspended and that this Ordinance be passed finally
on the date of its introduction, and take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally an the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at.three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
