STORM SEWER FROM TANCAHUA TO CARANCAHUA IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRSSTI, A COPY OF WHICH CONTRACT AND DOCUMENTS ARE MADE A.PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE AND ON FILE IN TEE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECHETARY; APPROPRIATING $26,342.25 FROM N0. 296 IMPROVEMENT BCNDS 1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND (STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS), $23,947.50 BEING THE CON- TRACT PRICE WITH THE BALANCE OF $2,394.75 TO COVER EN- GINEERING AND CONTINGENCIES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Certain improvements have been deemed necessary, andw there are sufficient funds in No, 296 improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Storm Sewer Improvements) with which to pay the cost of construction of such improvements; and WHEREAS, Bids have been received, considered and an award made for the most advantageous bid to the City of Carpus Christi, Texas, and it is now necessary to authorized the execution of a contract in accordance with such award and to appropriate said money, NOW, THEREFORE, HE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXASt Section 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi for and on behalf of the City has and he is hereby author. ized and directed to execute a contract with Slovak Brothers for the construction of a storm sewer in Blucher Arroyo from Tancahua to Carancahua in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, which contract has been awarded said Slovak Brothers in accordance with plane and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all incorporated herein and made a part hereof by reference, and in accordance with the said bid of said Slovak Brothers opened on the May 29, 2951,the said bid being the lowest and most advantageous bid to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. Section 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Storm Sewer Improvements) $233947.50 as the contract price of said construction to be paid in accordance with the contract described in Section 1 hereof and the gum of $2,394.75, being the equivalent to ten percent of the con- tract price, to cover engineering and contingencies, a total appro- ' � ®Sd priation of $26p342.25. Section 3. That the necessity for better drainage in the area concerned being of the greatest importance to the Public Realthp Safety and general xelfarej creates a public wergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolu- tion shall be reed at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayors declaring such emergency and necessity to exist, hav- ing requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordi- nance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take ef- fect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, it is accordingly so PASSED AND APPROVED This tbe--�Lday of June, 1951.
