HomeMy WebLinkAbout03059 ORD - 06/05/1951f AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORD13MME CREATING AND RECREATING POSITIONS, CLASSES, CLASSIFICATIONS AND SALARIES PAYABLE TO THE HOLDERS OF SUCH POSITIONS IN THE FIRE DIVI- SION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; ABOLISHING ALL POSITIONS, CLASSIFICA- TIONS AID SALARIES OR SALARY RANGES 321 CONFLICT HGRMITH HERETOFORE EXISTING IN SUCH DIVISION; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY°, AND BEING ORDINANCE NO. 26752 PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 3RD DAY OF JANUARY, 1950, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 2990, PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 6TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1951, BY AMENDING SECTION I OF SAID ORDINANCE BY R GRAi IG THE CLASSIFICATIONS HERETOFORE PROVIDED IN SAID ORDINANCE; AND DECLARING AN E eatGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: Section 1: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances creating, changing or increasing positions, classifications and salaries or salary ranges in the Fire Division of the City of Corpus Christi be and the same are hereby merged in this ordinnnca so that all positions, classifications and salaries or salary ranges in conflict herewith are hereby expressly abolished and the following positions, classes, classifications, reclassifications and salaries are hereby created and recreated in said Division as unanimously recommended by the Firemen's and Policemen's Civil Service Commission at a meeting held May 232 1951, so that hereafter the following and none other shall exist therein: CLASS D FIRE SUPPRESSION CLASS _ —.FIRE SERVICE Number of Classification Salary Positions (Class Title) Per Month Min. Section 2: That other than as amended herein said Ordinance No. 2675 as amended by Ordinance No. 2990 shall remain in full force and effect. - Section 3: The fact that turnover of personnel has increased t greatly in the past several months creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter Rule be suspended, and that thts'Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. i PASSED AND APPROVED this J day of June, A.D. 1951. VII / i MAYOR ATTEST: City of Corpus Christi, Texas City Secretary APPROVED AS TO IEGAL FORM: City Attorney Corpus Christi, Texas TO THE LMMERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore- going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
