AN ORDINANCE
APPROPRIATING FROM NO. 296 IMPROVEMENT BONDS
19$0 CONSTRUCTION FUND (STREET TRAFFIC CON- ,
TROL) $5,596 FOR INSTALUTION OF TRAFFIC LIGHTS
AT INTERSECTIONS OF WATER AND MARKET, SANTA FE
AND LOUISIANA, THIRD A14D BOOTY, OCEAN DRIVE
AND BOOTY, AND OCEAN DRIVE AND LOUISIANA STREETS,
AND TRAFFIC CONTROLLER AT SIX POINTS INTERSECTI'11S
IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE ESTIMATES OF COSTS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE
A PART HEREOF; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIREC-
TOR OF IiBLIC WORKS TO PROCEED WITH SAID PROJECT
WITY CITY FORCES (ELECTRICAL SECTION); AND DECLAR-
ING All EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, There is needed $5,$96 to cover the cost
of certain traffic installations in the City of Corpus Christi, and
there are sufficient funds available and unappropriated in No. 296
Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Street Traffic Control)
to cover the cost of such improvements; and
WHEREAS, It is contemplated that said work will be
done with City Forces;
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS;
SECTION 1, That there is hereby appropriated from No. 296
Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Street Traffic Control) the
sum of $5,596 to cover the cost of installation of traffic lights at
the intersections of Water and Market, Santa Fe and Louisiana Street,
Third and Booty, Ocean Drive and Booty Street, and Ocean Drive and
Louisiana Streets, and a traffic controller at Six Points intersec-
tions in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, in accordance with the
estimates of casts attached hereto and made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. That the Director of Public Works of the City
of Corpus Christi is directed to proceed with the work of such in-
stallation described in Section 1 hereof With City Forces(Electrical
Section).
SECTION 3. That the urgent necessity for the installation
of such traffic signals to protect the health, safety, and general
welfare of the general public using the streets abovementioned creates
an emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule providing that no ordinance or resolution

shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of
the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and
necessity to exist, having requested the suspension o£ said Charter
rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its
introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after its passage] IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED This

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
•• the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council, I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
