HomeMy WebLinkAbout03100 ORD - 07/24/1951AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING CERTAIN SUNS OF MONM FOR THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING AUGUST 1, 1951, AID ENDING JULY 31, 1952; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, At a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 21" day of July, 1951, and prior to the first regular meeting of the City Council in August, 1951, the City Council dLd, by ordi, nance, accept, approve, and adopt the Budget of the City of Corpus Christi, for the fiscal year beginning August 1, 1951, and ending July 31, 1952; and WHEBEAS, Upon adoption of the Budget, and pursuant to Sec. tion 27, Article V, of the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, the City Council must, at once, by ordinance appropriate such sums of money for each department as provided in the Budget for the ensuing fiscal year from August 1, 19511to July 31, 3952; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITr OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEM: SECTION 1. That on this the 24th day of Ju3y, 1951, and subsequent to and following the passage of the ordinance accepting, approving and adopting the Budget of the City of Corpus Christi, for the fiscal year beginning August 1, 1951, and ending July 31, 1952, certain sums of money be, and they are hereby appropriated to cover the stets as provided for each of the several departments of said City, as said sums do appear in the said Budget already approved by ordi- nance by the said City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, and said Budget being of record in the archives of said City. SECTION 2. That the fact that the appropriation ordinance must be passed immediately after the Budget in adopted and most be Published once before becoming effective, creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and that such ordinance or resolution aball be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity exist, requesting the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in 3 /OD full force and affect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, This the of July, A.D. 1951. g PRO STi CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS ulv ecre ary LAS D. '!b LEGAL FOHM: C rney Corpus Christi, Texad 195 TO THE ?dEURMS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore- going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
