ED,BY THE CITY CF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, FOR THE YEAR 1951
AND FOR EACH SUCCEEDING YEAR THEREAFTER UNTIL 07HMM
PROVIDED AND ORDAINED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

SECTICH 1. That there is hereby levied, to be assessedand collected,
in current money of the United States of America, for the use of the City
of Corpus Christi, Terra, for the year 1951, and for each succeeding year
thereafter, until otherwise provided and ordained, an annual direct ad va-
lorem tax of One Dollar ($1.00) on each One Hundred Dollars ($100) value
thereof, on all property, reel, personal and mired, located within the said
City of Corpus Christi, Texas, upon which a tax is authorized to be levied
by law, and upon all franchises of all individuals, partners, and corpora-
tions holding franchises in the City from said City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, said tax to be appropriated to the pint and defrayment of
current expanses of the government of said City; and $0.02 of the $1.00
mentioned above is hereby appropriated to the interest and sinking fund '
of the followings
(a) General Funding Warrants, Series
1929, dated November 1, 2929
(b) General Fund Refunding Honda,
Series 19363 dated April 1, 1936. -
SECTION 2. That there is hereby levied to be assessed and collect- '
ed in current money of the United States of America, for the use of the
City of Corpus Christi, for the Year 1951, and for each succeeding year
thereafter until otherwise provided andordained, an annual direct ad
valorem tax of $0.25 on each One Hundred Dollars ($100) of value thereof,
upon all property and franchisee described in Section 1 of this Ordi-
nance, said tax to be appropriated and used in making payments for
general street improvements and for building bridges in the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 3. That for the purpose of paying interest and providing -
the necessary sinking foods for the payment of outstanding bonds and
bonded indebtedness of the City of Corpus Christi, and for paying
interest and making previsions for the sinking fund of such future
issues as may be authorised, there is hereby levied for the year
1951, and for each succeeding year thereafter, unless otherwise pro-
vided and ordained, to be assessed and collected in current money
of the United States of America, upon all property and franchises
described in Section 1 of this Ordinance, an annual direct ad valorem
tax of $0.75 on each One Hundred Dollars ($100) of value thereof,
which said taxes, as and when the same shall be collected, shall be
appropriated and credited to the following bond interest and sink-
ing funds of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas=
(1) out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby
appropriated $0.1637 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary sink-
ing food to pay Refunding Bonds, Series 1936,
dated February 1, 1936,
(2) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby
appropriated $0.0059 for the purpose of paying
interest and creating the necessary sinking fund
to pay Municipal Auditoriums Bonds, Series 1950,
dated January 15, 1950;
(3) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby ap-
propriated $0.0455 for the purpose of paying in-
terest and creating the necessa;y ainking fund
to pay Municipal Auditorium Bonds, Series 1950 -A,
dated November 1, 1950;
(4) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby ap-
propriated $0.0107 for the purpose of paying is
terest and creating the necessary sinking fund
to pay police Building Hondas Series 1950, dated
January 15, 1950;
(5) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby ap-
propriated $0.0173 for the purpose of paying in-
terest and creating the necessary sinking fund
to pay Storm Sewer Hondas Series 1950s dated
January 15, 1950;
(6) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby ap-
propriated $0.0259 for the purpose of paying in.
terest and creating the necessary sink i g fuel

(7) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby ap-

(6) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby ap-
propriated $0.0124 for the purpose of paying in_
terest and creating the necessary sinking fund to

1, 1950;
9) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby
appropriated $0.0355 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary sink-
ing fund to pay Sanitary Sewer improvement and
Extension Sondes Series 1940, dated June 1, 1940,
10) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby ap-
propriated $0.0325 for the purpose of paying ins
terest and creating the necessary sinking fund to
pay Street Improvement Bonds, Series 1940, dated
June 1, 3940;
11) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby ap-
propriated $0.0161 for the purpose of paying in..
terest and creating the necessary sinking fund to
pay Street Improvement Bonds, Series 1941, dated
December 1, 1941;
12) out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby ap-
propriated $0.0130 for.the purpose of payying in-
terest and creating the necessary sinking fund

15, 1950;

provements, Storm Sewer improvement Bonds, 1951
Series.
SECTION 4. A32 taxes for the year 1951 hereby levied shall
become due and payable at the office of the Tax Assessor Collector
of the City of Corpus Chmtsti, Texas, on or after the first day of
October, A,D, 1951, and if the taxes levied for said year are not paid
on or before January 31st next after becoming due, interest shall be
charged upon the gross amount of the taxes due andpenalty due until
Paid at the rate of one -half of one per cent (1/2 of 1 %) for each month
or fraction thereof thereafter. Said interest shall be in addition
to such penalties as my be hereafter provided for delinquent taxes.
SECTION 5. That the fact that the passage of an ordinance
for the levying of taxes for the City of Corpus Christi for the year
1951s is necessary and important to the people of the City, and the
further fact that the preparation and completion of the tax rolls for
the year 1951 is dependent on the passage of this ordinance, and in
order that said tax roll my be completed and ready for the collection
of said taxes, when the same become due and payable as aforesaid,
creates ,a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requir-
ing the suspension of the Charter rule providing that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced,
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Couacil and the Mayor having declared such em-
ergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of
said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the
date it is introduced and take effect and be in full face and affect
fromnand after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at.three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule-or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
