AMENDING AN ORDINANCE BEING ORDINANCE NO. 3082
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY.COUNCIL ON THE
3RD DAY OF JULY, 1951, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING CONDEMNATION PROCEEDINGS BY.THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO CCNMM CERTAIN REAL ESTATE
WITHIN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, SITUATED
WITHIN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ADJACENT TO THE
P17ESENT MUNICIPAL.ILEPORT OF THE.CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI,'TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED
HEREIN, AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO
INSTITUTE PROCEEDINGS IN ORDER TO CARRY OUT THE
INTENTIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY," BY DIRECTING THE ACQUISITION CF
NINETEEN (19) ACRES, MORE OR LESS, INCLUDING THE
LAND ORIGINALLY DESCRIBED, SAID NINETEEN (19)
ACRES, MORE OR LESS, BEING MORE PARTICULARLY
DESCRIBED EMIR, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Further studies have disclosed that it would be
to the advantage of the City to acquire the entire tract of nineteen
(19) acres, more or less, from Sam Braslau and Barney Cott, instead
of only a portion thereof as originally provided in Ordinance
No. 3082; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has now determined that said
entire tract should be included in said condemnation proceedings,
NOW, TH EEM F ORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS;
SECTION I. That Ordinance No. 3082 entitled "AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING CONDEMNATION PROCEEDINGS BY THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO
CONDEMN CERTAIN REAL ESTATE WITHIN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS,
SITUATED WITHIN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ADJACENT TO THE PRESENT
MUNICIPAL AIRPORT OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTI-
CULARLY DESCRIBED HEREIN, AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO INSTITUTE
PROCEEDINGS IN ORDER TO CARRY OUT TIE INTENTIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,rc being, and the same is hereby amended so
as to change Section I to the affect that the same shall hereafter read
as follows;
"SECTION I. In conformity with the premise, and in accordance
with certain provisions of the City Charter, the said City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, does hereby order the condemnation of certain real
estate in Nueees County, Texas, and described as fo7lowse
All of that tract of land conveyed to Sam
Braslau and Barney Cott by deed dated February
12, 1944, recorded in Volume 298, Page 59 of
the Deed Records of Nueces County, Texas, said
tract of land being more particularly described
as follows=
All of the South One - Fourth (lI ) of the South
One- Fourth (1/4) of fractional: Section F of the
sectionalized lands of the Hoffman Tract situated
in Nueces County, Texas, and containing nineteen
(19) acres, more or less.
and the City Attorney is here authorized and directed to institute
condemnation proceedings against said property and all the persons
who might have an interest therein, and to .proceed with said con-
demnation suit to its conclusion, with the intention in mind of
obtaining fee simple title in and to said property for the purpose
of using the same for airport enlargement and i.mprovement +n
SECTION II. That the prompt institution of condemnation
proceedings and immediate acquisition of all of said land so that the
contemplated airport enlargement and improvement may be prosecuted with
all diligence and dispatch creates a public emergency and public
imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule
providing that no ordinance or resolution be passed finally on the
date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the city Council, and the Mayor, having
declared such public emergency and such imperative public necessity to
exist, requests that said Charter Rule be suspended, and that this
Ordinance take effect and be in full, force and effect, from and after
its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY ORDAINED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at -three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Councils
