APPROPRIATING EIGHT HUNDRED AND ELEVEN DOLLARS
($811) FROM NO. 295 IMPROVEMENT BONDS 3.948
CONSTRUCTION FUND (STREET IMPROVEMENTS) FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF STREET IMPROVE11ENTS AT THE
INTERSECTION OF OCEAN DRIVE AND BOOTYSTREET AND
AT THE INTERSECTION OF TANCAHUA STREET AND
- BUFFALO STREET; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE ,
CITY MANAGER FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY TO
E%ECUTE A CONTRACT lVITH C. L. CASTOR, CONTRACTOR,
FOR SUCH IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Certain improvements have been determined to
be desirable as a part of the traffic plan, and it is necessary
to make appropriation out of the proper fund for the payment
thereof and to enter into a contract for the construction of
said improvements; and
l4HEREA.S, There are sufficient funds unappropriated in
No. 295 Improvement Bonds 3948 Construction Fund (Street Improve-
... ts) to pay for the construction of such improvements;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of
No. 295 Improvement Bonds 1948 Construction Fund (Street improve-
ments) Eight Hundred and Eleven Dollars, ($811), ($727.80 being
the contract price plus $83.20 for engineering contingencies),
to pay for certain street improvements at the intersection of
Ocean Drive and Booty Street and at tba intersection of Tancebus
Street and Buffalo Street in the City of Corpus Christi according
to the terms of the contract described in Section 2 hereof.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized
and directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus
Christi a contract for the agreed contract price for the con-
struction of certain street improvements as described in such
contract with C. L. Castor, Contractor, in accordance with the
Plana, specifications, and contract documents on file in the office
of the City Secretary, all of which are incorporated and made a
Part hereof by reference.
SECTION 3. The necessity of widening such street at
said intersections and making certain improvements as a part `
of the street traffic control system to provide a safer traffic
pattern for the citizens of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction and that ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the mayor, having
declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested
the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be
passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its
passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the data it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.

in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of Noe 295 Improvement Bonds 1918
Construction Fund ( Street Improvements) ($811.00)
Fund from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not
appropriated for any other purpose.
