AN ORDINANCE - AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO EXECUTE A RELEASE OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENT IN THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED SIXTY - SIX AND 32AOD DOLLARS AGAINST THE PROPERTY SITUATED IN THE CITY FRONTING 50 FEET ON THE WEST SIDE OF THIRTEENTH STREET, BEING LOTS 15 AND 16, BLOCK 1101, ROPES AND CHAMBERLAIN _ BAY TERRACE NO. 2, AND THE REAL AND TRUE OWNER THEREOF, CLARA E. ROYAL, FOR AND IN CONSIDERA- TI0 OF THE PAYMENT OF SAID CERTIFICATE TO- GETHER WITH ALL INTEREST THEREON, A COPY OF WHICH CERTIFICATE RELEASE IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MA Ib A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1, That the City Manager has and he is hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City to execute a release of Special Assessment in the sum of Two Hundred Sixty - Six and 32AOD Dollars against the property situated in the City fronting 50 feet on the west side of Thirteenth Street, being Lots 16 and 1$, Block 1101, Ropes and Chamberlain Bay Terrace No. 2, and the real and true owner thereof, Clara E. Royal, for and in consideration of the payment of said certificate together with all interest thereon, a copy of which release is attached hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. That the necessity of clearing the title to said land immediately creates a public emergency and an im- perativepublic necessity requiring the suspension of said Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings, and the Mayor, declaring such emergency and necessity-to exist, having requested the sus- pension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its Passage, IT is AC- CORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED This the _ t 4ay of August, 1951. WHEREAS, By ordinance adopted on the 4th day of December. 1941, by its City Council, the City of Ccrpus Christi, Texas, determined the necessity for and ordered the improvement of Thirteenth Street between certain limita3 and WHEREASO After due notice to the public, by an ordinance passed by said City n the 6th day of April, 1942, and other pro. ceedings of said City Council, there was levied an assessment in the sum of Two hundred sixty six and 32/100 Dollars against the property situated in said City, fronting 50 feet ca the Wrest side of said street, described as follows, to -Wits - Block 1101, Lots 15 and 16, Ropes and Chamberlain, BAY TERRACE 140. 20 Corpus Christi, Texas, and against the real and true owner thereof, named as followras Clara E. Royal and WHEREAS, Said special assessment was evidenced by Assessment Certificate No. 100, issued by the City on the 16th der of June, 1942; and WHEREAS, Said Assessment Certificate together with all interest thereon, has been fully paid off and satisfied and at the ° time of its payment the City of Corpus Christi was the owner and holder of said Certificate and of all liens securing its pament: ' NOW, THE}LFOnE, The City of Corpus Christi, a municipal corporation, for and in ecnsideration of the payment of said Special Assessment, does hereby RELEASE said property from all liens secur- ing the payment of said assessment and the owner of said property _ from all personal liability crewed by the issuance of said certificate and the other proceedings of said City above re- - £erred to, and does declare said Special Assessment fully SATISPIBD AND DTSCHAROED.
