APPROPRIATING FROM NO. 258 SEAWALL AND BREAKWATER
CONSTRUCTION FUND THESUM OF FIVE HUNDRED ($500)
DOLLARS FOR THE COST OF 0MVERSIO1; OF A 10 KU
GENERATOR AT THE BAIFROMT PUMP PLANT "A" FROM THREE
WIRE, SINGLE PHASE TO A 10 KW THREE- PHASE, AS A
PART OF THE SEAWALL AND STORE[ PROTECTION IMPROVEMENTS
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR
OF PUBLIC WORKS TO PROCEED WITH SAID PROJECT, SUCH
WORK TO BE DONE WITH CITY FORCES, AND IECLARING AN
EIGRGENCY.
WHEREAS, In order to add to the effectiveness of the
Seawall. and Storm Protection Improvements of the City of Corpus
Christi, it is necessary to make certain adjustments to provide
auxiliary pourer to allow independent operation of the plant used
in pumping excess storm and flood waters from the Bay area to pro-
tect the City and such improvements in case of floods, storms,
hurricanes, or tidal waters; and
WHEREAS, There are sufficient funds available and un-
appropriated in No. 258 Seawall. and Breakwater Construction Fund
in the amount needed to cover the cost of such conversion; and
WHEREAS, It is contemplated that such work will be done

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated from No.
258 Seawall and Breakwater Construction Fund the sum of Five Hundred
Dollars MOO) to cover the cost of conversion of a 10 K.W. genera-
tor at Pump Plant"k" from a three -wire9 single phase, to a 10 K.,N.
three -phase to allow the use of auxiliary power for the independent
operation of said plant in case of an emergency.
SECTION 2. That the Director of Public Works is hereby
authorized and directed to proceed with such conversion to be done
by City Forces.

SECTION 3, That the necessity of providing for the
effective use of said pumping plant as a part of the Seawall and
Storm Protection Improvements of the City of Corpus Christi creates
a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meet-
ings of the City Council, and the Mayor., having declared such em-
ergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension
of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on
the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED

For the reasons set forth in the Emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a .public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at -three meetings of the
City Councils S, therefore, hereby request that you suspend. said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
