AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO COMPROMISE A CLAIM MADE BY FLORRIE R.
CLARK FOR DAMAGES SUFFERED TO BER PERSON
FOR REASON OF A DEFECT IN CHAPARRAL STREET
AND APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF FIVE HUNDRED
($500.00) DOLLARS FROM STREET FOND NO. 108
TO PAY SAID CLAIM TO EFFECT SAID COMPROMISE;
AND DECLARING-AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, On April 4, 1951, Mrs. Florrie R. Clark of
San Benito, Texas, suffered injuries as the result of falling in a hole
at the intersection of Chaparral Street and Sohatzel Street; and,
WHEREAS, It is deemed necessary that the said Florrie
R. Clark be paid for damages sustained;
NON, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized
and directed to compromise and settle the claim of Florrie R. Clark and
pay suoh claim in the amount of Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars, said
amount to be paid to Florrie R. Clark in full settlement of all claims
she might have by virtue of injuries suffered on April 4, 1951.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated from the
unappropriated monies in Street Fund No. 108 the sum of Five Hundred
(0500.00) Dollars, which amount is to be used for paying said claim set
out in Section 1 of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. The fact that a compromise of the claim set
out in this ordinance is beneficial to the City in order to avoid future
expenses and litigation creates a public emergency and public imperative
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, declaring such emergency
and public necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said

Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of
its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after, is passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, This

I certify to the City Council that the money required
for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of No. 108 Street Fund
Fluid from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not
appropriated for any other purpose.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and'
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at.three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
