HomeMy WebLinkAbout03139 ORD - 09/25/1951Minger;gp 9/20/51 C� / J,1 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $572 FROM NO. 296 IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND (STREET TRAFFIC CONTROL) FOR PAYMENT TO NO. -102 CURRENT FUND TO REIMBURSE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR EXPENDITURE'-UN--THE INSTALLA. TION OF A TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL AT THE CORNER OF SANTA FE AND CRAIG STREETS IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SAID INSTALLATION HAYING BEEN MADE WITH CITY FORCES, AND.DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, There is needed approximately $572 to cover the cost of material used in the installation of Street Traffic Con- trol Signal at the corner of Santa Fe and Craig in the City of Coxpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, Such installation has been completed with force account labor and material by the Traffic Division of the Police Department; and WHEREAS, There are sufficient funds available and unappro- priated in No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Street Traffic Control) with which to reimburse the Police Department for expenditures on this project: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated from No. 296 Im- provement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Street Traffic Control) $572 for payment to No. 102 Current Fund reimbursing the Police Depart- ment for expenditures in the installation of a traffic control signal at the corner of Santa Fe and Craig, which project has been completed with force account labor and material by the Traffic Division of the Police Department, in accordance with their request for reimbursement attached hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. That the necessity, for'imtmediately reimbursing said Traffic Division for said expenditure in said projects such traffic control signals being vital to the public health, safety, and general welfare, creates a public emergency and an imperative public neces- sity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro - duction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the datt of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED This theoZIr—t of September, A.D. 1951. �AYo CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS A SSTs CITY SEGRzTARX aVED AS TO LEGAL FORM: CITY ATTORNEY orpus Christi, Texas . TO THE REMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemens For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore - going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or ` resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council, I,, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council. This work has now been completed with force account labor and material by the Traffic Division of the Police Department.
