AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 760, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, ADOPTED ON THE 27TH.DAY OF
AUGUST, 1937, AND APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES 565
ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME THEREAFTER,
AND, IN PARTICULAR, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE N0. 2266, PASS-
ED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 4TH DAY OF MAY, 1948,
APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 16,.PAGES 339 ET SEQ, OF THE ORDI-
NANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS OF SAID CITY BY AMENDING THE ZON-
ING MAP APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON MAY 4, 1948, BY CHANG-
ING THE PRESENT ZCNING OF ALL OF BLOCK 3 OF A HESUBDIVISION OF
BLOCKS 3, 4, AND 7, BARTHLOME ADDITION FRCM A -1, FIRST APART-
MENT HOUSE DISTRICT TO A - -2 SECOND APARTMENT HOUSE DISTRICT;
LOT 8, BLOCK 5, CORONADA ADDITION FROM Rrl, ONE FAMILY DWELT,
EDGBY UDISTRICT VER (SHELL) ROADONBTHE SOUTH, BLOCK;3 OF GENEVA
HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION ON THE,WEST,_LEOPARD STREET (HIGHWAY NO. 9)
ON THE NORTH, AND SUBURBAN HOMESITES ON THE EAST FROM A -2,
SECOND APARTMENT HOUSE,DISTRICT TO B-3, SECONDARY BUSINESS
DISTRICT; LOTS 22 AND 231 ANNIE BAGNALL SUBDIVISION FROM A -2
SECOND APARTMENT HOUSE DISTRICT TO B-3, SECONDARY BUSINESS
DISTRICT; and BY PERMANENTLY ZONING THAT TRACT OF LAND AND
AREA ANNEXED BY ELECTION IN OCTOBER 1950 AS DESCRIBED IN SUCH
ANNEXATION ORDINANCE AS R-1, ONE FAMILY DMIING DISTRICT;
KEEPING IN EFFECT ALL OTHER PROVISIONS OF THE EXISTING ZON-
ING ORDINANCE AS AMENDED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, has recommended to the City Council of said
City that it is advisable to make the hereinafter set out changes in
the present Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, at
its regular meeting held on the 15th day of May, 1951, ordered a Public
Hearing to be held on the 14th day of June, 1951, at 2:00 o'clock P.M.
in the Council Chamber at the City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi;
and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi at
its regular meeting held on the 10th day of July, 1951; ordered a Public
Hearing to be held on the 9th day of August, 1951, at 2:00 o'clock P.M.
in the Council Chamber at the City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi;
and
WHEREAS, The City Council did hold such public hearings, and
the continuance of the June 14th Hearing on June 26, 1951, at which
hearings all interested citizens, property owners, and other parties
had the opportunity to be heard on the proposed amendments, and at
such hearings all parties interested and wishing to appear were heard

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TE%ASs
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of
Corpus Christi passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appearing of
record in Volume 9, pages 565 et seq, of the Ordinance and Resolution
Records of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and as amended from
time to time thereafter, and in particular as amended by Ordinance Noe
2266, passed and approved by the City Council of said City-on the 4th
day of May, 1948, and appearing of record in Volume 16, page6'339 et
seq of said Ordinance and Resolution Records of the City of Corpus
Christi, be, and the same is hereby, amended in those particulars hem-
inaftei set forth:
SECTION 2. That the zoning of that tract of land described as
All of Block 3 of a resubdivision of Blocks 3, 4, and 7
Barthlome Addition, being generally the west portion of
that triangular tract of land bounded by Antelope Street,
Lawrence Drive and Rose Street, in the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas,
be changed from present zoning of A-1, First Apartment House District
to A-2, Second Apartment House District;
SECTION 3. That the zoning of that tract of land described as
Lot 8, Block 5, Coronado Addition, being generally that
property at the northeast corner of Carmen and Cortez
Streets in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
be changed from present zoning of R-1, One Family Dwelling District to
B-3, Secondary Business District;
SECTION 4. That the zoning of that tract of land described as;
That area bounded by Up River Head (Shell Road) on the south,
Block 3, of Geneva Heights Subdivision on the west, Leopard
Street (Highway No. 9) on the north, and Suburban Homesites Ad-
dition on the east, in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
be changed from present zoning of A -2, Second Apartment House District
to B -3, Secondary Business District.
SECTION 5. That.the zoning of that tract of land described as:
Lots 22 and 23, Annie Bagnall Subdivision, being generally
that property facing on Up River Road and lying immediately
to the rear of the property on the northeast corner of Up
River Road and Old Robstown Road in the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas,
be changed from present zoning of A -2, Second Apartment House District
to B-3, Secondary Business. District.

SECTION 60 That the zoning of that tract of land and area annex-
ed by election in October, 1950, and as described in the Annexation ordi-
nance, being Ordhnance No. 2919, as amended by Ordinance No. 2994, re-
corded in Volume 19, at page 256 et seq of the Ordinance and Resolution
Records of the City of Corpus Christi, to -wit:
BEGINNING At a point in the present City Limits line, said
point being on the south edge of the south abutment of the
draw span of the Nueces Bay Causeway on State Highway No. 16;
THENCE due east with the present City limits line parallel
to the original northern city limits line as surveyed by C.
F. H. v. Blucher in August, 1883, to its intersection with
the original east City Limits line extended;
THENCE South with the. present City Limits line to the
southeast corner of the original City Limits line as sur-
veyed by C.F.H. v. Blucher in August, 1883;
THENCE in a southeasterly direction to a point that is
due north one mile from the most easterly point of the
west shoreline of Oso Creek at mean low tide;
THENCE south with the present City Limits line one mile
to the most easterly point of the west shoreline of Oso
Creek at mean low tide, same being the intersection of the
West Shoreline of Oso Creek and the westerly shoreline of
Corpus Christi Bay;
THENCE in a southeasterly direction with the shoreline
of Corpus Christi Bay to its intersection -with the south -
east line of State Lease No. 78;
THENCE northeasterly with the southeast line of State
Leases Nos. 78, 67, 662 512 50, 33, 475, 450, 447, 420, and '
417 to the northeast corner of State Lease No. 417;
THENCE northwest along the northeast line of State Lease
No. 417 to its intersection with the shoreline of Corpus
Christi Bay;
THENCE Northwesterly, along andwith the shoreline of Corpus
Christi Bay to the most northerly corner of State Lease No. 12;
THENCE southeast with the northeast line of State Lease
No. 12 to its most easterly corner;
THENCE southwest on a direct line to the most easterly corner
of State Lease No. 41;
THENCE northwest along the northeast line of State lease
No. 41 to its intersection with the shoreline of Corpus Christi
Bay;
THENCE Southwesterly, westerly, northwesterly along and with
the shoreline of Corpus Christi and Nueces Bays to its inter-
section with the southeast corner of State Survey No. 753;
THENCE north with the east lines of State Surveys Nos. 753
and 751 to the shoreline of Nueces Bay;
THENCE in a westerly direction with the shoreline of Nueces
Bay, to the northeast corner of State Survey No. 686;
THENCE south with the east line of State Survey No. 686 to
a southeast corner of said survey;
THENCE west along with the south line of State Survey No. 686
to a point being a northward extension of the east line of
State Survey No. 939;
THENCE south, crossing State Survey No. 688 with the north-
ward extension of State Survey No. 939, and continuing on
with the east line of State Survey No. 939 to its inter-
section with the north line of the Nueces County Navigation
District lands;
THENCE east with the north boundary line of the Naviga-
tion,District lands to the southeast corner of State Survey
No. 7Q8, as shown on the General Land Office Map of submerged
lands, Nueces Bay and adjoining areas, dated October 15, 19469
said point being a point on the Shoreline of Nueces Bay;
THENCE along the meanders of Nueces Bay to the City Limits
line as it existed prior to October 31, 1950, said point being
a point on the centerline of Avenue "F" and the extension of
said Avenue "F ";
THENCE with -said City Limits line andthe center line of
Avenue "F" extension to a point which bears north 32 degrees
East 700 feet from the centerline of 34th Street, Brooklyn
Subdivision;
THENCE in a southeasterly direction with the present City
Limits line to a point on the south edge of the south abut-
ment of the draw span of Nueces Bay Causeway on State Highway
No. 16 and the PLACE OF BEGINNING,
be permanently zoned as R -1, One Family Melling District.
SECTION 7. That the official Zoning Map of the City of Corpus
Christi be and the same is hereby amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 8. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in con-
flict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 9. That the said Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City
of Corpus Christi, approved on the 4th day of May, 1948, as amended
from time to time, except as herein changed, shall remain in full
force and effect. '
SECTION 10. That the fact that it is necessary to put in force
immediately the changes in the Zoning Ordinance and Map as herein -
above provided, being of the greatest public importance to the order-
ly and progressive growth of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, creates
a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordi-
nance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor, declaring such emergency and necessity
to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and
that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and,qLfter its

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
., resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council, I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
