WHEREAS, certain improvements have been determined to be desirable as a part of the Street Improvement Plan, and it is necessary to make appropriation out of the proper fund for the payment thereof and to enter into a contract for the construction of said improvements; and WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds unappropriated in No. 295 Improvement' Bond, lg1B Construction Fund (Street Improvements) to pay for the construction of such improvements: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRI §TI, TEXAS¢ SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of No. 295 Improvement Bond, 1948 Construction Fund (Street Improvements) Five Hundred and Fifty Five Dollars and Seventy Five Cents ($555.75) to pay for the con- struction of concrete curb and gutter returns and valley gutters along Scott Street and concrete curb and gutter returns along Rosalie Street in the City of Corpus Christi according to the terms of the contract described in Section 2 hereof. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi a contract for the agreed contract price for the construction of certain concrete curb and gutter returns and valley gutters along Scott Street and concrete curb and gutter returns along Rosalie Street as desoribed in such contract with C. L. Castor, Contractor, in accordance with the plans, specifications, and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of whioh are incorporated and made a part hereof by reference. SECTION 3. The necessity of constructing concrete curb and gutter : returns and valley gutters along Scott Street and concrete curb and gutter returns along Rosalie Street creates a public emergency and an imperative �lLag public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that -iis ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. Director of Finance V`' CONCRETE CURBS AND VALLEY GUTTERS FOR ROSALIE STREET AND SCOTT DRIVE The property owners on Rosalie Street and Scott Drive in Corpus Christi, Texas, have constructed two or more blooks of concrete curb and gutter in front of their property, on whddh Mr. C. L. Castor has done the work. At the street intersections the curb returns were constructed, and the City, in keeping with past policies, agrees to pay for the concrete curb returns and valley gutters incidental to this work. Proposed work consists of curb returns on Rosalie Street at intersecting street of Vestal, Vitemb and Presootts 4 » 10 ft. Radius Return Measures to 62 line ft. of concrete curb and gutter ® $1.50 per ft. equals $93.00. On Scott Street at intersecting streets of Quaile Street, Reeves Street and Petty Street: 7 10 ft. Radius Measures 108.5 line ft. of Concrete Curb and Gutter at $1.50 per lin. ft. equals $162975. 4 Concrete Valley Gutters, length 50 ft. each measure 200 line ft. ® $1e50 equals $300.00. Total amount of all Concrete Curb, Gutters and Valley Gutter amounts to $555.75.
