THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY -THREE DOLLARS
AND NINETY- -SEVEN CENTS ($1,263.97) FROM -N0.
299 1950 SANITARY SEWER IMPROV004TS FOP THE
CONSTRUCTION OF AN EIGHT (8) INCH SANITARY
SEWER LINE'TO SERVE LOTS 13 THROUGH 16 of
OCEAN DRIVE ADDITION; AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR
OF PUBLIC WORKS TO PROCEED WITH MORK WITH CITY
FORCES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,.
WHEREASt There is needed approximately'Dne Thousand Six
Hundred and Twenty -Eight Dollars ($1,628.00) for the.cost of constructing
a sanitary sewer line to serve Cots 13 through 16 of Ocean Drive Additiory,
said line being 570 feet in length;
and
WHEREAS, There are sufficient funds available for such
construction costs in No. 295 Improvement Bonds 1948 Construction Fund
(Sanitary Sewer Improvements) and No. 299 1950 Sanitary Sewer Improvements;
and
WHEREAS, It is contemplated that said work will be done by
City Forces;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated the sum of Three
Hundred and Fifty -Four Dollars and Three Cents ($354.03), ten percent of
which is for,engineering and contingencies, from No. 295 Improvement Bonds
1948 Construction Fund (Sanitary Sewer Improvements) and the sum of One
Thousand Two Hundred and Sixty -Three Dollars and Ninety -Seven Cents ($1,263.97),
ten percent of which is for engineering and contingencies, from No. 299 1950
Sanitary Sewer Improvements for the cost of constructing a sanitary sewer
line to serve Lots 13 through 16 of Ocean Drive Addition.
SECTION 2. The Director of Public Works of the City of Corpus
Christi is hereby directed to proceed with the work described herein, such
work to be performed by City Forces.
SECTION 3. The fact that it is necessary to construct
a sanitary sewer line to serve the above . mentioned blocks in Ocean
Drive Addition to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens
of thatarea creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or reso-
lution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to
exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this
ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage.

for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City

Sanitary Seweg-Improvements
Fund from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not
appropriated for any other purpose.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council, I, therefore,
hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this
ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council,
