AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF CORPUS CBRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager'is hereby authorized and
directed for and on* behalf of the City of_ Corpus Christi, to accept a deed
from RUSSELL R. WILLIAMS concerning land abutting on Baldwin Boulevard and
Cleo Streei'adjacent to and abutting certain lots located in the David Brown
Addition of the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, said land
being described as follows, to -wit:
Being a strip of land 25 feet in width and approximately
615 feet in length out of Lots 3 and 4 of the David Brown
Addition to the City of Corpus Christi as shown by map of
said Addition recorded in Volume A. Page 22 of the Map
Records of Nueces County, Texas. Said strip-of land being

Beginning at a point, the northeast corner of a tract of
land conveyed to Gulf Oil Corporation by deed recorded in
Volume 331, Page 170 of the Deed Records of Nueces County,
Texas, for the northwest corner of this tract;
Thence S 61 deg. 401 E with the northeast boundary line of
said Lots 3 and 4, David Brown Addition, a distance of
485.2 feet, to the northeast corner of said Lot 4 for the
northeast corner of this tract;
Thence S 28 deg 20' W with the southeast boundary line of said
Lot 4, a distance of 169.2 feet to a point for the southeast
corner of this tract;
Thence N 61 deg. 401 W, a distance of 25.00 feet to a point
for a corner of this tract;
Thence N 28 deg. 201 E parallel to and 25 feet northwest of
the southeast boundary line of said Lot 4. David Brown
Addition, a distance of 144.2 feet to a point for a corner

SECTION 2. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND
DIRECTED TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY CONTRACTS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF SAID
LAND DESCRIBED IN SECTION 1 HEREOF AND TO DO ALL THINGS INCIDENT OR
REQUISITE TO OBTAINING THE TITLE AND POSSESSION OF SAID LAND.

SECTION 3. THAT THE NECESSITY OF ACQUIRING SAID LAND FOR THE
FUTURE WIDENING AND IMPROVING OF BALDWIN BOULEVARD CREATES A PUBLIC
EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF
THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCILS AND THE MAYOR
HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXISTS REQUESTING THE
SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DAY OF INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT
FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this
ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
