HomeMy WebLinkAbout03310 ORD - 08/19/1952:If 4 Y ORDINANCE NO. e_;�3,0 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE LARS PUBLIC- D THOUSAND ( ) PUBLIC-PARK SERIES 1952; DOLLARS THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS THEREOF, LEVYING TAXES TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST THEREON, AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, on July 15, 1952 the City Council of the City of Corpu Christi, Texas, adopted Ordinance No. 3291 authorizing the issuance of One Hundred Fifty Thousand ($150,000.00) Dollars City of Corpus Christi Public Park Bonds, Series 1952; and WHEREAS, Section 8 of said ordinance hereinabove mentioned she be amended; therefore BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Corpus Chris ITexas: That Section 8 of Ordinance No. - -3291 adopted on July 15, 1952 by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, authorizi the issuance of One Hundred Fifty Thousand ($150,000.00) Dollars Ci of Corpus Christi Public Park Bonds, Series 1952, should be, and it hereby, amended so that It shall hereafter read and be as follows: "Section 8: That while said bonds, or any part of the princip thereof or interest thereon, remain outstanding and unpaid, th is hereby levied and there shall be annually assessed and col- lected in due time, form and manner and at the time other City taxes are assessed, levied and collected in each year, a tax upon all taxable property in said City.of Corpue Christi, Texas, sufficient to pay the current interest thereon and to create a sinking fund to pay the principal as it matures; and to pay the interest on said bonds and create said sinking fund, there is hereby levied for the current year 1952, a tax at the rate of seven - tenths of one ($0.007) cent. on each $100 valuation of taxable property within said City, and the same shall be. X310 s 6 r�, assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named; and for the purpose of providing a fund for the payment of prin- cipal and interest on said bonds as they respectively become due and payable, there is hereby levied for each of the years while said bonds or any part of the principal thereof or any interest thereon remain outstanding, an annual ad valorem tax upon all taxable property within said City sufficient therefor and said taxes, when collected, shall be applied to the pay- ment of principal and interest on said bonds, and to no other purpose!' and That, except as hereinabove amended, said ordinance shall remai and be in full force and effect; and That the great public importance and the great pressing need for the permanent improvementsto be constructed by use of the pro- ceeds of sale of said bonds hereinabove mentioned create an emergent and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of rules and Charter provisions requiring same to be considered and voted upo at three (3) regular meetings, and such facts require that this ord- inance be passed and take effect immediately as an emergency measure, and such rules and provisions are hereby suspended and this ordinance is passed and shall take effect as an emergency measure, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage. Cit'v At Corpus Christi, Texas TO TUE MEMBERS OF TEE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen- sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council, Respectfully, 9AYOR ��' City of pus Christi, Texas The Charter rule was suspended by the following vote: Leslie Wasserman Jack DeForrest Sydney E.
