HomeMy WebLinkAbout03347 ORD - 11/06/1952• • � . � ate. y AN ORDINANCEa.3.�� + APPROPRIATING.FROM NO. 141 WATER OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE THE SUM OF FIVE 1HOUSAND ($5,000) DOLLARS TO BE PAID*AS THE PRO RATA COST OF THE CITY FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES AND REPORTS FROM AREA DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE,OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION I. THAT THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED FROM ND. 141 WATER OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE THE SUM OF FIVE THOUSAND ($5,000) DOLLARS TO BE PAID AS THE PRO RATA COST OF THE CITY FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES AND RE- PORTS FROM AREA DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 2. THAT THE NECESSITY OF MAKING THE AFORESAID APPROPRIATION IMMEDIATELY FOR SUCH SERVICES AND REPORTS, SAID SERVICES AND REPORTS BEING OF THE GREATESTIMPORTANCE OF PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY AND GENERAL WELFARE INS r THE PRESERVATION AND ENFORCEMENT OF GOOD GOVERNMENT OF SAID CITY BY PLAN- NING FOR THE IMPROVEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF SAID CITY IN ANTICIPATION OF ITS RAPID GROWTH AND FUTURE NEEDS CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERA- TIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUC- TION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE, AND TIAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, THIS THE lz OF NOVEMBER, A. O YOR oTcns THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI JY TE9T: SECRETARY APPR D AS TO EGAL FORM: CITY A TORNEY 33qjl` r� Corpus Christi, Texas 19� TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen- sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
