HomeMy WebLinkAbout03392 ORD - 01/27/1953AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $31,989.75 TO BE PAID AS CONSIDERATION FOR M, SEATING NECESSARY IN THE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM ON SHORELINE BOULEVARD IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, OUT OF NO. 296 IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND (MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM); AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY TO EXE- CUTE A CONTRACT WITH AMERICAN SEATING COMPANY, LOW BIDDER, FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SUCH SEATING; SAID CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, PLANS, AND SPECIFICATIONS BEING MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the installation of seating equipment in the Municipal Auditorium has been determined to be necessary; and WHEHF,AS, There is needed the sum of $31,989.75 for the installation of such seating equipment; and WHEREAS, There is available in No. 296 Improvemed Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Municipal Auditorium) said amount needed for such installation; and WHEREAS, Bids have been received, considered, and an award made for the most advantageous bid to the City of Corpus Christi, and it is now necessary to make such appropriation and to authorize the execution of a contract in accordance with said award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Municipal Auditorium) the sum of $31,989.75 which amount is to be paid according to the terms of the contract described in Section 2 hereof. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi a con- tract for installation of seating equipment in the Municipal Auditorium on Shoreline Boulevard: in Corpus Christi, Texas. with American Seating Company, which contract has been awarded said American Seating Company in accordance with plans and specifications and the contract documents on file in the 3 -39Z office of the City Secretary, all incorporated herein and made a part hereof by reference, and according to the bid of American Seating Company, opened on the 20th day of January, A. D. 1953, said bid being the most advantageous, and lowest, to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 3. The need to appropriate said amount and to authorize the execution of said contract in order to facilitate the com- pletion of the Municipal Auditorium, said contract being in conjunction with other contracts on said Municipal Auditorium, creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed and approved finally onthe day it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, requesting the suspension of said Charter rule. and that this ordinance be passed finally on the day it is introduced and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
