APPROPRIATING $9,595,00 TO BE PAID AS CON-
SIDERATION FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE STAGE
AND EQUIPMENT IN THE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM
BUILDING•ON SHORELINE BOULEVARD IN THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, OUT OF NO. 2% IM-
PROVEMENT BONDS, 1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND
0MCIPAL,AUDITORIUM); AUTHORIZING AND DIRECT-
ING THE CITY MANAGER FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH TEXAS SCENIC
COMPANY (LON BIDDER), FOR SUCH INSTALLATION;
SAID CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, PLANS, AND .SPECIFI-
CATIONS BEING MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,
WHEREAS, the installation of the stage and equipment in
the new Municipal Auditorium Building has been determined to be
necessary; and
WHEREAS, There is needed the sum of $9,595.00 for the
installation of such stage and equipment; and
VBERFAS. There is available in Fund No. 296 Improvement
Bonds, 1950 Construction Fund (Municipal Auditorium) said amount
needed for such installation; and
WEREAS, Bids have been received, considered, and an ati+ard
made for the most advantageous bid to the City of Corpus Christi,
and it is now necessary to make such appropriation and to authorize
the execution of a contract in accordance with said award;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of Fund
No. 2% Improvement Bonds, 1950 Construction Fund (Municipal Audi-
torium) the sum of $9,595.00, cdhich amount is to be paid according
to the terms of the contract described in.Section 2 hereof.
SECTION 2. That the Gity Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi
a contract for installation of the stage and equipment in the new
Municipal Auditorium Building on Shoreline Boulevard in Corpus Christi.

Texas Scenic Company in accordance with plans and specifications
and the contract documents on file in the office of the City
Secretary, all incorporated herein and made a part hereof by
reference. and according to the bid of Texas Scenic Company.
opened on the 20th day of January. A. D. 1953. said bid being
the most advantageous, and lowest. to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 3. The need to appropriate said amount and to
authorize the execution of said contract in order to facilitate the
completion of the new Municipal Auditorium, said contract being in
conjunction with other contracts on said Municipal Auditorium,
creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requir-
ing the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolu-
tion shall be passed and approved finally on the day it is introduced
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetiq�s of the City Council. and the Mayor. having declared such
emergency and necessity to exist. requesting the suspension of said
Charter rule. and that this ordinance be passed finally on the day
it is introduced and take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its passage. IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN°
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RE-
SOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RE'SOLU71ON SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL:
a, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT
AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT
MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL

I certify to the City Council that the money required for
the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of Fund No, 296 Improvement Bonds
1950 Construction Fund (Municipal Auditorium) from which it is
proposed to be drawn, and such money is not appropriated for any
other purpose.
