AN ORDINANCE
APPROPRIATING $49,000.00 FROM NO. 296 IMPROVE-
MENT BONDS, 1950 construction FUND (MUNICIPAL
AUDITORIUM) TO COVER ALTERATIONS TO THE STAGE
AND FOR CONTINGENCIES IN CONNECTION WITH CON-
STRUCTION OF THE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM, IN ORDER THAT
RECOMMENDATIONS OF VARIOUS CITIZENS• COMMITTEES CAN
BE CARRIED OUT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, various citizenst committees in the City of Corpus
Christi after due study of the plans for the Municipal Auditorium have made
recommendations to the City Council covering alterations to the stage; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be its duty to be
governed by the will of the people; and
WHEREAS, above - mentioned alterations are worthy of adoption
into the plans for the Municipal Auditorium; and
WHEREAS, there is available in No. 296 Improvement Bonds,
1950 Construction Fund (Municipal Auditorium) the amount of $49,000.00
to cover alterations to the stage, contingencies and architect's fees
relative to alterations and contingencies during the construction of the
Municipal Auditorium under the contracts of the low bidders J. A. Walsh;
A & H Electric Co., Inc; Corpus Christi Plumbing Company (2 contracts);
and Texas Scenic Company;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated the amount of
$49,000.00 from No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Municipal
Auditorium) to cover alterations to stage, contingencies and architect "s fees
relative to alterations and contingencies during the construction of the
Municipal Auditorium under the contracts of the following low bidders:
J. A. Walsh, general construction and site work; A & H Electric Co.,

Inc., electrical contract; Corpus Christi Plumbing Company — plumbing
contract; Corpus Christi Plumbing Company – heating, ventilating and air-
conditioning contract; Texas Scenic Company - stage and athletic equip-
ment contract. Alterations for the enlargement of the stage facilities
will be made by field changes to the general construction and site work con-
tract of J. A. Walsh, low bidder,and other respective contracts effecting
electrical, plumbing, heating and stage equipment.
SECTION 2. The need to appropriate the said amount for
alterations to the stage of the Municipal Auditorium in order to provide
the citizens of Corpus Christi with adequate entertainment facilities creates
a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension
of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed and
approved finally on the day it is introduced and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and -
the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, requesting
the suspension of said Charter rule, and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the day it is introduced and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
