AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE CREATING
AND RECREATING POSITIONS, CLASSES, CLASSIFICATIONS AND
SALARIES PAYABLE TO THE HOLDERS OF SUCH POSITIONS IN
THE POLICE DIVISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI: ABOLISHING ALL POSITIONS,
CLASSIFICATIONS AND SALARIES OR SALARY RANGES IN CONFLICT
HERDilfH HERETOFORE EXISTING IN SUCH DIVISION: CONTAINING
A REPEALING CLAUSE: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY", AND
BEING ORDINANCE #2655 PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL ON T]iF 6TH DAY OF DECEMBER., 1949, AS AMENDED, BY
AMENDING SECTION 1 OF SAID ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR SALARY
INCREASES FOR ALL CLASSIFICATIONS: PROVIDING FOR AN EFFEC-
TIVE DATE FOR THE AMENDsENT; AND DECLARING AN EVERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI:
Section 1: That Section 1 of said Ordinance #2655 be amended
so as to read hereafter as follows: "Section l: That all ordinances or parts
of ordinances creating, changing or increasing positions, classifications and
salaries or salary ranges in the Police Division of the Department of Public
Safety of the City of Corpus Christi be and the same are hereby merged in this
ordinance so that all positions, classifications and salaries or salary ranges
in conflict herewith are hereby expressly abolished and the following positions,
classes, classifications and salaries are hereby created and recreated in said
Division so that hereafter the following and none other shall exist therein:

"All officers assigned to duty in the Detective Division where no
uniform allowance is being paid shall receive $$10.00 per month clothing allow-
ance in addition to their base pap.
Section 2. That other than as amended herein, said Ordinance
#2655 shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall become effective on and
after February 1, 1953.
Section 4. The fact that the cost of living has increased greatly
in the past several months, creates a public emergency and public imperative
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and impera-
tive necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended,
and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT
IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAIM.

SOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL;
