AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED °AN ORDINANCE CREATING
AND RECREATING POSITIONS, CLASSES, CLASSIFICATIONS AND
SALARIES PAYABLE TO THE HOLDERS OF SUCH POSITIONS IN
THE FIRE DIVISION OF THE DEPART1,211T OF PUBLIC SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS 01- MISTI: ABOLISHING A1,L POSITIONS,
CLASSIFICATIONS AND SALARIES OR SALARY RANGES IN CON-
FLICT HERE14ITH HERETOFORE EXISTING IN SUCH DIVISION:
CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EIMCENCY11,
AND BEING ORDINANCE #2678 PASSED AND APPRO-TZD BY THE CITTY
COUNCIL ON THE 3RD DAY OF JANUARY 1950, AS AMENDED, BY
AMEAIIIING SECTION 1 OF SAID ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR SALARY
INCREASES FOR ALL CLASS IFICATION$; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFEC-
TIVE DATE FOR THE ALIIENDI,2725 AND MCLARING AN E1,1ER.GENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI:
Section 1. That Section 1 of said Ordinance •x#2678 be amended
so as to read hereafter as follows: "Section 1: That all ordinances or parts
of ordinances creating, changing or increasing positions, classifications and
salaries or salary ranges in the Fire Division of the Department of Public
Safety of the City of Corpus Christi be and the same are hereby merged in this
ordinance so that all positions, classifications, salaries or salary ranges in
conflict herewith are hereby expressly abolished and the following positions,
classes, classifications, reclassifications and salaries are hereby created
and recreated in said Division, so that hereafter the following and none other
shall exist therein:

and F. The titles in parenthesis are the equivalent positions in Classes D, E
"All members of the Fire Division of Grade 2 assigned to duty as Regular
Drivers, Operators, Inspectors or Mechanic Helpers draw not less than $6.00
per month additional compensation as "specialist pay" during such periods of
time as they are serving in such capacity."
Section 2. That other than as amended herein, said Ordinance ;2678 shall
remain in full force and effect.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall become effective on and after
February 1, 1953.
Section 4: The fact that the cost of living has increased greatly
in the past several months, creates a public emergency and public imperative
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and impera-
tive necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended,
and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT
IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, '—
AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ FT Z HREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL;
1, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT
AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT
MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
