HomeMy WebLinkAbout03404 ORD - 01/27/1953j AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FROM NO. 220 STREET I14PROVEMENTS THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300.00) TO COVER THE COST OF INSTALLATION OF APPROXIMATELY 126 LINEAR FEET (MORE OR LESS) OF CURB AND GUTTER AND CURB RETURNS FOR THE INTERSECTION OF BRACKENRIDGE DRIVE WITH QUAILE DRIVE, REEVES DRIVE, PETTY DRIVE AND THE INTERSECTION OF PETTY DRIVE WITH DIXON DRIVE, SUCH WORK TO BE PERFORMED BY CITY FORCES; DIRECT- ING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO PROCEED WITH SAID PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS. the City of Corpus Christi is in the final stages of completion of a storm sewer at Highway 9 and Villa Gardens which will improve the drainage in this area; and WHEREAS, as a result of this storm sewer installation, property owners are now in the process of getting together and installing new curbs and gutters along these streets (approximately 4,084 linear feet) for which they will pay Individually as property owners; and WHEREAS, it has been recommended that the City authorize the curbs and gutters on the corners; and WHEREAS, There is needed $300.00 for curbs and gutters and curb returns for the intersection of Brackenridge Drive with Quaile Drive, Reeves Drive, Petty Drive and the intersection of Petty Drive with Dixon Drive; and WHEREAS, There are sufficient funds available and unappro- priated in No. 220 Street Improvements from which to make appropriations to cover the cost of said installations; and WHEREAS, It is contemplated that said work be done by City Forces; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: 34bV SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) from No. 220 Street Improvements to cover the cost of installation of approximately 126 linear feet (more or less) of curb and gutter and curb returns for the intersection of Brackenridge Drive with Quaile Drive, Reeves Drive, Petty Drive and the intersection of Petty Drive with Dixon Drive as indicated on the map attached hereto and made a part hereof, such work to be done by City Forces. SECTION 2. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to proceed with said project as described in Section 1 hereof and the map attached hereto. SECTION 3. That the necessity of making the aforesaid appropriation immediately so that City Forces may proceed with the installa- tion of said curbs and gutters and curb returns, such improvements being to the benefit of the safety, health, and general welfare of the general public, creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the sus- pension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, This the —272% .day of January.
