APPROPRIATING THE ADDITIONAL SUM OF $800,00
FROM NO. 291 IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1952 CONSTRUC-
TION FUND (PARK IMPROVEMENTS AND CONSTRUCTION)
TO SUPPLEMENT THE $4,500.00 APPROPRIATED FROM
SAID FUND By ORDINANCE NO. 3368, PASSED AND
APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON DECEMBER 16,
1952 FOR THE PURCHASE OF APPROXIMATELY 4,23
ACRES OF LAND FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, THE
PURCHASE PRICE OF THIS LAND BEING $1,228.78 AN
ACRE WITH THE PURCHASE PRICE TO INCLUDE THE
NINETY -TWO (92) HOUSING UNITS LOCATED ON SAID
PROPERTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there be and there is hereby appropriated
an additional sum of Eight Hundred Dollars ($800.00) from No. 291 Improvement
Bonds 1952 Construction Fund (Park Improvements and Construction) to supplement
the $4,500.00 appropriated from said fund by Ordinance No. 3368, passed and
approved by the City Council on December 16, 1952 for the purchase of approx-
imately 4.23 acres of land from the Federal Government, the purchase price
of this land being $1,228,78 an acre with the purchase price to include the
ninety -two (92) housing units located on said property. The additional
appropriation of $800,00 will bring the total appropriation to $5,300.00, to
be disbursed as follows:
4.23 acres of land at $1,228.78
an acre $5,159.29
Expenses incidental to the acqui-
sition of this property 140.71
$5,300.00
SECTION II. That the necessity of appropriating an additional
$800.00 to cover the purchase price of the 4.23 acres of land being purchased
from the Federal Government to provide a public park and playground in accord
with the public park system program as a part of the permanent park improve-
ments of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, creates a public emergency and an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that
no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity

to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that
this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, This the day of February„ A. D. 1953.

for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of No. 291 IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1952
CONSTRUCTION FUND (PARK IMPROVEMENTS AND CONSTRUCIY ON)
Fund from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not
appropriated for any other purpose.
