HomeMy WebLinkAbout03414 ORD - 02/03/1953AN ORDINANCE ?�//�/ APPROPRIATING FROM NO. 295 IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1948 CONSTRUCTION FUND (STORM SEWER IMPROVE- MENTS) THE SUM OF $3,363.90 TO COVER THE COST OF MATERIALS AND,LABOR FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF APPROXIMATELY 580 LINEAR FEET OF 18" REINFORCED CONCRETE PIPE STORM SEWER ON ALAMEDA STREET BETWEEN MORGAN AND ELIZABETH STREETS AND APPROXIMATELY 292 LINEAR FEET OF 18" REINFORCED CONCRETE PIPE STORM SEWER ON SOUTH SAXET DRIVE BETWEEN BARTLETT DRIVE AND BAKER DRIVE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLANS ON FILE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS; SUCH WORK TO BE DONE BY CITY FORCES; AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY, WHEREAS, it is necessary that a storm sewer extension be made on Alameda Street which will extend from Morgan Street to Elizabeth Street and permit the residents on Alameda Street to install curbs and gutters and will eliminate a very bad drainage problem existing at Elizabeth and Alameda Streets; and WHEREAS] it is necessary that an extension of a storm sewer system consisting of 18" concrete pipe from Bartlett Drive to Baker Drive on South Saxet Drive be installed to eliminate a bad drainage problem at the intersection of Baker Drive and South Saxet; and WHEREAS, there is needed for such installations the sum of $3,363.90 which amount is available in No. 295 Improvement Bonds 1948 Construction Fund (Storm Sewer Improvements); NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of No. 295 Improvement Bonds 1948 Construction Fund (Storm Sewer Improvements) the sum of Three Thousand Three Hundred and Sixty -Three Dollars and Ninety Cents ($3.363,90) to cover the cost of construction of 580 linear feet of 18" reinforced concrete pipe storm sewer on Alameda Street between Morgan and Elizabeth Streets, and approximately 292 linear feet of 18" reinforced concrete pipe storm sewer on South Saxet Drive between Bartlett Drive and Baker Drive, all in accordance with the plans on file in the Department of 3qiy Public Works, the breakdown of such appropriation being as follows: PROPOSED STORM SEWER ON ALAM DA STREET FROM MORGAN TO ELIZABETH STREETS 580 Lin. That the Director of Public Works is authorized to proceed with such work, using City Forces. SECTION 3. The necessity of making the aforesaid appropriation immediately so as to commence work on said storm sewer installations in order to alleviate bad drainage problems at two said intersections in the City of Corpus Christi, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED This the,iA&L-1day of February, A D. 1953.
