HomeMy WebLinkAbout03622 ORD - 12/23/1953a, Ir iY n AN ORDINANCE NO. 3622 AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND REGULATING POSITIONS, CLASSES, CLASSIFICATIONS AND SALARIES PAYABLE TO THE HOLDERS OF SUCH POSITIONS IN THE POLICE DIVISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; ABOLISHING ALL POSITIONS, CLASSIFICATIONS AND SALARIES OR SALARY RANGES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. HERETOFORE EXISTING IN SUCH DIVISION; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY", AND BEING.ORDINANCE N0. 2655 PASSED. AM APPROVED HY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 6th DAY OF DECEMBER., 1949, AS AMENDED, BY AM&NDING SECTION I OF SAID ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR AN INCREASE AND CHANGE IN THE NUMBER OF PERSONNEL IN CERTAIN CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE POSITION OF SERGEANT; PROVIDING THAT THIS AM&ND1,ENT SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE I1101EDIATELY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That hereafter that part of "Class A" of Section 1 of Uniformed and Detective Class - Police Service, as to Grade 3, shall here- after read as follows. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in direct con- flict herewith are hereby expressly repealed to the axtent-of such conflict only. SECTION 3. That this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its adoption by the City Council. SECTION 4. The fact that the necessity of increasing and reclassifying personnel in certain classifications is required immediately, creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance be passed finally �r z on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
