HomeMy WebLinkAbout03676 ORD - 02/24/1954TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH T. H. LEE, CONTRACTOR, FOR THE C ON- SIBUCTION OF A 36" WATER MAIN ON LEXINGTON BOULEVARD IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUEZES COUNTY, TEXAS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFER MICE; APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $471,619.09 OUT OF 1954 IMPROVER NT BONDS (WATERWORIS CONSTRUCTION) TO COVER THE COST OF SUCH CONSTRUCTION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THL CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi, for and oa behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with T. Ii. Lee, Contractor, for the con- struction of a 36" water main on Lexington Boulevard in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, in accordance with plans and specifications and contract documents, made a part hereof by reference, all of which are on file in the office of the City Secretary. SECTION 2, That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $471,819.89 out of 1954 Improvement Bonds (Waterworks ConstructionO to cover the cost of such construction. SBUTION 3. The necessity for executing the above mentioned con- tract for the construction of said water main creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, This the,/4 day of 1954.
