AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BY ADDING ARTICLE XX PRO -
ViDL% FOR THE ADOPTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE POSITION
CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR ALL OFFICES AND POSITIONS IN THE
CLASSIFIED SERVICE ", AND BEING ORDINANCE N0, 3658 PASSED
AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 10TH DAY OF FEBRUARY,
1954, BY AMENDING SECTION 4 TO INCLUDE CERTAIN POSITIONS
AND GRADES IN THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN: CHANGING TITLES OF
CERTAIN PRESENTLY_ EXISTING POSITIONS• AND CHANGING GRADES
OF CERTAIN OTHER POSITIONS: PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
That Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance amending the rules and
regulations of the Civil Service of the City of Corpus Christi by adding
Article XX providing for the adoption and administration of the position
classification plan for all offices and positions in the classified
service" and being Ordinance No. 3658 be amended as follows:
Section 1. That Section 4 be and the same is hereby amended by
the addition of the following class grades and titles:

Section 2. That Section 4 be amended by changing the following

Section 4. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance shall be held, for any reason, to be inoperative, void or invalid,
the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance shall not be affected
thereby, it being the intention of the City Council in adopting this ordinance,
that no portion thereof, or provision herein, shall become inoperative or fail
by reason of the invalidity of any other portion or provision and the City
Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, does hereby declare that it
would have severally passed and adopted the provisions contained herein, sepa-
rately and apart one from the other,
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect on May 1st, 1954.
Section 6. The necessity for making amendments to the position

classification plan for the classified service effective on the next pay-
roll period beginning May 1st, creates a public emergency and public im-
perative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is intro-
duced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such
public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested
that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IT ACCORDINGLY SO
ORDAINED
PASSED AND APPROVED this 28th day of April, 1954.

THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST
THAT YOU SUS
P END SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS
ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT
MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
