HomeMy WebLinkAbout03741 ORD - 04/28/1954AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BY ADDING ARTICLE XX PRO - ViDL% FOR THE ADOPTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR ALL OFFICES AND POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE ", AND BEING ORDINANCE N0, 3658 PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 10TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1954, BY AMENDING SECTION 4 TO INCLUDE CERTAIN POSITIONS AND GRADES IN THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN: CHANGING TITLES OF CERTAIN PRESENTLY_ EXISTING POSITIONS• AND CHANGING GRADES OF CERTAIN OTHER POSITIONS: PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: That Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance amending the rules and regulations of the Civil Service of the City of Corpus Christi by adding Article XX providing for the adoption and administration of the position classification plan for all offices and positions in the classified service" and being Ordinance No. 3658 be amended as follows: Section 1. That Section 4 be and the same is hereby amended by the addition of the following class grades and titles: Class Class Title Grade ADMINISTRATIVE AND CLERICAL GROUP General Administrative Series 18 Golf Course Manager 26 Budget and Research Analyst ENGINEERING AND SCIENCES GROUP Sub - Professional Enaineerina Series 23 Engineer's Assistant FISCAL AND ACCOUNTING GROUP Accounting Series 22 Senior Accountant Section 2. That Section 4 be amended by changing the following class titles: Class Grade From CIass Title To Class Title ENGINEERING AND SCIENCES GROUP Professional Enaineerina and Architectural Series 20 Junior Civil Engineer Junior Engineer 1 23 Assistant Civil Engineer Junior Engineer 11 Section 3. That Section 4 be amended by changing the salary grades of the following positions: From To Class Class Grade Grade Class Title ADMINISTRATIVE AND CLERICAL GROUP General Administrative Series 18 20 Customer Service Supervisor ENGINEERING AND SCIENCES GROUP Professional Enaineerina and Architectural Series 25 27 Gas Engineer 27 28 Gas Service Engineer 28 29 Senior GWs Engineer 28 29 Water Distribution Superintendent 28 29 Water Production Superintendent INSPECTION GROUP Buildina Inspection Series 19 22 Zoning Inspector and Permit Supervisor LAB0R AND TRADES GROUP Labor and Trades Supervision Series 26 27 Building Maintenance Superintendent 28 29 Chief Electrician Section 4. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance shall be held, for any reason, to be inoperative, void or invalid, the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance shall not be affected thereby, it being the intention of the City Council in adopting this ordinance, that no portion thereof, or provision herein, shall become inoperative or fail by reason of the invalidity of any other portion or provision and the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, does hereby declare that it would have severally passed and adopted the provisions contained herein, sepa- rately and apart one from the other, Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect on May 1st, 1954. Section 6. The necessity for making amendments to the position -2- classification plan for the classified service effective on the next pay- roll period beginning May 1st, creates a public emergency and public im- perative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is intro- duced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IT ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED PASSED AND APPROVED this 28th day of April, 1954.
