A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO CAUSE
TO BE FILED WITH THE BOARD OF WATER ENGINEERS OF THE
STATE OF TEXAS AN APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI FOR THE PURPOSE OF PRESENTING TO SAID
BOARD THE FACTS EXPRESSING THE DESIRE OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TO INVESTIGATE THE FEASIBILITY OF WATER
,PPROPRIATION IN QUANTITIES GREATER THAN 20,000 ACRE FEET
FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROTECTING THE PRIORITY RIGHTS OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI UNDER ITS EXISTING PERMITS NOS.
51, 933, 1463, AND 1177, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIRE-
MENTS OF SECTION 2, CHAPTER 136, ACTS OF THE 39TH LEGIS-

CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO EXECUTE THE PP.ESENTATIOPt, A COPY OF WHICH 15 HERETO
ATTACHED, AND SUCH OTHER INSTRUMENTS AND DOCUMENTS AS MAY BE PROPER AND NECESSARY
IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, EXPRESSING THE DESIRE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
TO INVE5T IGATE THE FEASIBILITY OFWATER APPROPRIATION AND FOR THE PROTECTION OF
THE PRIORITY RIGHTS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI UNDER ITS PERMITS NOS. 51,
933, 1463, AND 1177, AND DO SUCH OTHER ACTS AND THINCS AS MAY BE NECESSARY
AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF LAW, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, CONCERNING THE AREA DESCRIBED III SAID PRESENTATION, AND TO
FURNISH SUCH OTHER FACTS AND INFORMATION TO THE STATE BOARD OF ItiATER ENGINEERS
AS MAY BE PROPER AND NECESSARY.
IT 15 FURTHER ORDERED AND DIRECTED THAT A COPY OF THIS ORDINANCE
BE PREPARED AND FURNISHED TO THE STATE BOARD OF WATER ENGINEERS IN CONNECTION
WITH SAID APPLICATION AND THAT SAID ACTION DE TAKEN AS PROMPTLY AS POSSIBLE
S Y THE SAID RUSSELL E. MCCLURE, OR UNDER HIS DIRECTION.
SECTION 2. THAT THE SAID RUSSELL E. MCCLURE, CITY MANAGER OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, BE AND HE 15 HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO PAY THE NECESSARY
FILING FEE IN THE SUN OF "25.00 AND MAKE THE NECESSARY DEPOSIT IN THE SU14 OF
250.00 IN CONNECTION WITH THE FILL PIG OF SAID PRESENTATION, AND SAID FUNDS ARE
HEREBY APPROPRIATED'AHD PAYMENT AUTHORIZED OUT OF NO. 141 MAINTENANCE AND
OPERATION FUND.
SECTION 3. THAT THE NECESSITY FOR PROVIDING ADEQUATE WATER SUPPLY
FOR THE WATER USERS SUPPLIED BY AND THROUGH THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI CREATES
A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL DE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE
READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE PIAYOR, DECLARING
SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID
CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF
ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND 113E IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER
ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE 7 DAY OF MAY, 1954.
