AN ORDINANCE
ACCEPTING THE DEDICATION OF A TRACT OF LAND DESIGNATED AS
D. N. LEATHERS CENTER II, IN CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY,
TEXAS, BEING NUECES STREET FROM THE EAST LINE OF COKE STREET
TO THE SOUTH LINE OF FRANK STREET, WHEATLEY STREET, TANNER
STREET. JOSEPHINE STREET FROM THE NORTH LINE OF LAKE STREET
TO NIECES STREET, AND YOUNG STREET, ALL AS MORE PARTICULARLY
DESCRIBED IN A COPY OF THE DEDICATION DEED ATTACHED HERETO
AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, A
PUBLIC BODY CORPORATE, IS THE OWNER OF THE TRACT AND PARCEL OF LAND DESCRIBED
HEREIN, LYING AND BEING SITUATED IN NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS; AND
WHEREAS, SAID TRACT AND PARCEL OF LAND IS BEING USED FOR LOW -COST
HOUSING BY THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, KNOWN AS THE
D. N. LEATHERS CENTER II; AND
L'IHEREAS, THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI 15
DESIROUS OF DEDICATING THE STREETS NAMED HEREIN TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
FOR PUBLIC USE; AND
WHEREAS, IT IS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE CITY COUNCIL THAT THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI ACCEPT THE DEDICATION OF SAID STREETS FOR PUBLIC USE:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE DEDICATION OF CERTAIN STREETS IN D. N. LEATHERS
CENTER 11, BEING NUECES STREET FROM THE EAST LINE OF COKE STREET TO THE SOUTH
LINE OF FRANK STREET, WHEATLEY STREET, TANNER STREET, JOSEPHINE STREET FROM
THE NORTH LINE OF LAKE STREET TO NUECES STREET, AND YOUNG STREET, ALL AS MORE
PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED BY METES AND BOUNDS IN A COPY OF THE DEDICATION DEED
ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, IS HEREBY ACCEPTED BY THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, AND SAID STREETS ARE HEREBY DECLARED TO BE PUBLIC STREETS OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AND SUCH DEDICATION AND ACCEPTANCE IS HEREBY DECLARED
TO BE VALID AND BINDING.
SECTION Z. THAT THE FACT THAT IT IS NECESSARY TO ACCEPT THE DEDI-
CATION OF SAID STREETS FOR PUBLIC USE AND THAT THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI MAY
EXERCISE JURISDICTION OVER SAID NEW STREETS CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN
IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT
NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED
AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYORp HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND
NECESSITY TO EXIST, REQUESTING THAT SAID CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED AND THAT
THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND TAKE
EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

That the HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
a public body corporate. organized under the Housing Authorities Lary
of the State of Texas, acting herein by and through the Chairman of
the Board of Commissioners of such Authority. whose signature is at-
tested by the Executive Secretary of such Authority, the owner of the
tract of land designated as D. N. Leathers Center II, in Corpus Christi.
Nueces County, Texas, and shown an the plat attached hereto. marked
Exhibit "A" and made a part of this instrument, does hereby dedicate
to the use of the public the streets as shown upon said plat, being
Nueces Street from the East line of Coke Street to the South line of
Frank Street. Wheatley Street. Tanner Street. 3osephine Street from
the North Line of Lake Street to Nueces Street, and Young Street, all
as described on said plat. and more particularly described by metes
and bounds on Exhibit "Q" attached hereto and made a part thereof,
reserving. however, unto the said Housing Authority of the City of
Corpus Christi, as a part of the public. the full use of said streets
in connection with the operation of said D. N. Leathers Center II.
This dedication is further subject to the .acceptance of
the same by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi and the
agreement of the said City Council of the City of Corpus Christi that
said City will maintain said streets.

City of Corpus Christi, this day of April. 1952.
