AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO PUR-
CHASE FROM ENNA J McDaniel AND J. Z. McDANIEL, FOR
AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, A TRACT
OF LAND, BEIlVG LOT 16 BLOCK A, PHILLIPS ADDITION, TO
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO BE USED FOR RIGHT -
OF -WAY FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF BALDWIN BOULEVARD; AUTHORIZ-
ING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SUCH INsrRUMENTS AS MAY
BE NECESSARY IN CONNECTION THEREWITH; APPROPRIATING THE
SUM OF $6.717.00 FROM NO. 220 STREET BOND IMPROIFEMENT
FUND TO COVER THE PURCHASE OF SAID TRACT OF LAND; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
and directed, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, to purchase
from Emma J. McDaniel and J. Z. McDaniel a tract of land, being Lot 16, Block
A, Phillips Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, to be used for
right -of -way for the improvement of Baldwin Boulevard.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to execute such instruments as may be necessary in connection with the acqui-
sition of said tract of land.
SECTION 3. That there is hereby appropriated from No. 220 Street
Bond Improvement Fund the sum of $6,717.00 to cover the purchase price of
said tract of land.
SECTION 4. The necessity for acquiring the tract of land described
in Section 1 hereof for the improvement of Baldwin Boulevard creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule providing that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, declaring
such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said
Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its in-
troduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APRRG ED,This the day of August, 1954.
