On this the / 'Y- day of November, 954, the City Council
of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, convened in .w meeting,
with the following members of said Council present, to it:
P. C. Callaway, Mayor,
J. S. Naismith,
Frank Peterson,
Commissioners,
Ellroy King,
W. James Brace, ,
T. Nay Kring, City Secretary,
with the following absent: / 1�1� —yJ_, , constituting
a quorum, at which time the following among other business was transacted:
McClure presented for the consideration of
the Council a resolution. The resolution was read by the City Secretary.
The Mayor presented to the Council a communication in writing pertaining to
said proposed resolution, as follows:

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing resolution, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the
suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution
shell be pass Ad finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance
or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council. I there-
fore hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and
adopt this resolution finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present
meeting of the City Council.

The Mayor requested that the records show that he voted

The Mayor announced that the resolution had been adopted.

RESOLUTION No. 3951
AWARDING TO TIM PURCHASER X$500,000.00
FIRST MORTGAGE WATERWORKS REVENUE BORWI
SERIES 2 OF 1954, AND DECLARING. AN hbffiiOENCx.,
�TWHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, has under consideration the sale of its First lbrtgege Waterworks
Revenue Bonds, Series 2 of 1954, dated October 1, 1954, numbered One (1)
to Five Hundred (500), both inclusive, of the denomination of One Thousand
($1,000.00) Dollars each, aggregating Five Hundred Thousand ($500,OOo.00)
Dollare, bearing interest at the rate of Three and one - fourth (3k%) per cent
per annum, payable June 1, 1955, and semi - annually thereafter on December let
and June 1st of each year, and maturing aerially throughout the years 1966 to
1963, both inclusive; and
WHEREAS, after having received and considered all of the
offers, the City Council considers the offer of Merrill Lynch, Pierce,
Fenner & Beane
as the highest and beet bid, which bid is par and accrued interest to date of
delivery, plus a premium of $_18,637.50_- and
WHEREAS, it is considered to be to the best interest of
the City that said bid be accepted;

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
1. That the bid of Merrill Lynch, Pierce,
Fenner & Beane

$18,637.50 be and the same is hereby accepted.
2. That the Mayor, City Secretary and City Treasurer be
and they are hereby ordered and directed to do any and all things necessary
to complete the delivery of said bonds to the purchaser in accordance with thi
bid and the receiving of the money for the benefit of the City.
3• The fact that the contemplated use of the proceeds of
the vatersorks revenue bonds are necessary for the orderly development and
growth of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, creates a public emergency and
an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule
providing that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at tbre:

public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that sai
Charter Rule be suspended and that this resolution take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its adoption, it is accordingly so resolved.
