AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 2241 BY AMENDING SECTION 142
THEREOF BY DESIGNATING BALDWIN BOULEVARD FROM HIGH —
MY 9 TO LOUISIANA AVENUE, HORNE RCA) FROM AYERS
STREET TO OLD BROWNSVILLE ROAD, AIR PORT ROAD FROM
HI(amy 44 TO MORGAN STREET, OLD BRM7NSVILLE ROAD
FROM MORGAN STREET TO LEXINGTON AVENUE, UP RIVER ROAD
FROM LIPAQ STREET TO THE CITY LIMITS, AND MCARDLE ROAD
AS THROUGH STREETS; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DE-
CLARING'AN EMMENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 2241, passedand approved by the City
Council of the City of Corpus Christi on the 16th day of March, 1948, and
recorded in volume 16, page 197 of the Ordinance and Resolution Records of
the City of Corpus Christi, as amended, is hereby amended by amending
Section 142 so as to include the following streets:
Baldwin Boulevard From Highway 9 to Louisiana Avenue
Horne Road From Ayers Street to'Old Brownsville Road
Air Port Road From Highway 44 to Morgan Street
Old Brownsville Road From Morgan Street to Lexington Avenue
Up River Road From Lipan Street to the City Limits
McArdle Road
SECTION 2. If any part or parts of this ordinance are for any
reason held to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of
the remaining portions of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. A11 ordinances or parts of ordinances of the City of
Corpus Christi in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. This being an ordinance providing for a penalty in
case of its violation, the same shall be published by publishing its
caption or title stating its purpose and the penalties for violation thereof
as set forth in Section 136, said publication to be twice in the official
newspaper of the City, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its second publication.
SECTION 5. The necessity of immediately designating such streets
as through streets in order to facilitate better traffic control creates a
Public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension
of the Charter Rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall
be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having
declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspen-
sion of said Charter Rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and that such ordinance take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after !.-be passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND
